When something we want doesn't come out, the reason is rarely that it's because the specialty labels are ignoring it.

Especially if it's a very popular Goldsmith, if it's not coming out the reasons are much more likely to be issues of clearance or elements than apathy.

Take Intrada. Do you think those guys, who are Goldsmith fanatics themselves, haven't even thought of doing NIMH?

No, the reason will not be labels being ignorant.

Cheers

The album notes indicate NIMH was recorded at CTS Wembley, now sadly demolished when the new Wembley Stadium was built... I read somewhere, any master tapes that were unclaimed when CTS closed (by the "artists", or by their representation) were junked. JamesFitz has posted here before about some tapes he was able to "rescue" around that time, but it can't be a coincidence that both NIMH and Under Fire (also done in part at CTS Wembley, masters still MIA) remain unexpanded after all these years, despite their popularity.

The labels are pretty upfront if a score is lost or there are other issues preventing a release. I have to believe LLL, Intrada or even Lukas have look into this situation. The silence tells me it's just a matter of time.

Though there is less discussion in this more recent thread, I am bumping it because in it solium links to all of the missing NIMH cues. Which one do you guys think is probably the cue that Intrada was able to locate the multitrack for and include in their release? The three and a half minute one?

Yes, as I mentioned in the other thread its probably the 3.5 minute cue. It's the best cue missing. It's the one long sequences missing from the OST. It also contains themes not heard anywhere else in the score (other than the end credits).

The only other piece of music it could be is the boat ride under the mill. Another lovely piece of music but much shorter.

If this release is NIMH, it also explains why there's been no word if an expanded or complete release was possible. They simply didn't know what was available. It's pretty clear they did an extensive search.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think this is the latest breakdown of NIMH. The music released and unreleased and in film order. Missing cue names made up as place holders.
