Great but how does this cause any DAMAGE to the original recording?

If the re-recording is a bad performance, that's a seperate issue. The original performance hasn't changed one bit, as long it's been preserved.

Yes, but as I said if the terrible re-recording is the first thing that person hears and does not like it, why would they want to buy the original or anything else by that composer? If I was just starting to like scores and someone recommended Jerry Goldsmith and I picked up JERRY GOLDSMITH COLLECTION, THE - Volume One: The Rarities, I would go yeah right, this Goldsmith is not for me, I would miss out on his other great scores like The Wind And The Lion, the Omen Trilogy, The Secret Of Nimh, the list goes on.

I doubt you've even listened to that album in the first place. Not everyone orders all their music from websites like Amazon. Not everybody uses the Internet. Some people don't even have computers.

And only an ignorant fool would dismiss an entire composer's discography because he listened to one album of re-recordings and didn't like what he heard.

When I was younger my Grandmother gave me a similar CD like this one for my birthday and I was so upset that it was not the original scores. I no longer have it. I few years back I did see the exact CD above and a few others for sale at FYE, still sealed and cheap! I guess I had better stop, I am trying to make my point to an employee of one of the companies that produces these type of re-recordings. Goodnight.

You completeley failed to make your point. You are trying to pass off your opinion as some kind of fact. If the marketplace was only filled with dodgy re-recordings performed by the London Starlight Orchestra, you might be on to something but even then, the power of the original performances would not be diminished in any way. Not everyone listens to music the same way you do. Not everyone is exposed to music the same way you are.

And I don't know how they do things in your house but if my grandmother gave me a gift and I didn't like it so much that it upset me, my parents would have kicked my ass up and down the street.

I will say it is very obvious that you, Tong, have been damaged forever, even crippled by these rerecordings you were given as a child. Let's be frank. It was Meco wasn't it? Meco Star Wars? You can overcome this. Do you wake up in the middle of the night suffering from night terrors, 'Meco terrors' if you will? Do you still get cold sweats while listening to the vintage analog synthesizer electronic realizations of John Williams' untouchable classic on Christmas morning? We can help you. First you must admit you have a problem. After that first step, we'll take the next. Do not be afraid. We are here to help YOU!

Depends. The 'original' vs. 'rerecording' issue is far less important than HOW the music has been presented (selection & sequencing of tracks).

Which ones are re-recordings? I wouldn't know. I love NIMH OST, sounds the same as the music in the film, though slightly re-edited on one cue. Love STTMP OST and while the original didn't have all the music sounded just like the film version. Same with Poltergeist, etc.

Whichever is cheaper, and without the stupid ponytail.
