StudioCanal have detailed their upcoming Blu-ray release of John Boulting's I'm All Right Jack (1959), starring Ian Carmichael, Peter Sellers, Terry-Thomas, Richard Attenborough, and Dennis Price. The release will be available for purchase on January 19, 2015.

I'M ALRIGHT JACK is the 1959 award winning comedy by John and Roy Boulting, the most celebrated of their social satires, which won BAFTAs for Best British Screenplay and Best British Actor (Peter Sellers).

The highest grossing film at the UK box office in 1959, I'M ALRIGHT JACK was a rip-roaring and thought provoking satire, poking fun at the then-burning issue of industrial relations. Set in a missile factory, the film focuses on Stanley Windrush, an upper-class graduate who innocently accepts a job at his uncle Bettram Purcel's (Dennis Price) factory. Unbeknownst to Stanley, his uncle has an agenda where he plans for his nephew to become the catalyst of a labour dispute, which his uncle hopes to profit from. Unfortunately for Bettram his plan backfires when his socialist employee Mr. Kite (Peter Sellers) takes advantage of the opportunity for his own gain.

A sequel to 1956's A PRIVATE PROGRESS, Peter Sellers steals the show – his comedic brilliance is on full display in the dual role of Sir John Kennaway and the tragic-comic trade union leader Fred Kite. This performance marked his break out role for many critics, the Guardian garnered it a "career best performance", as well as kick starting the first of many award nominations for Sellers.

A superb all-star cast feature alongside Peter Sellers including Ian Carmichael, Terry-Thomas, Richard Attenborough, Dennis Price, Liz Fraser, John Le Mesurier, Irene Handl and Margaret Rutherford.

I'M ALRIGHT JACK is an all time classic, that stands the test of time. A laugh-out-loud and ingenious comedy, it focuses on the contrast between the greedy and self-serving bosses who come to blows with trade unions officials to the detriment of the workforce – an issue that many can relate to in today's society. I'M ALRIGHT JACK is the perfect tonic to aid the January blues this new year.

Special Features:
Brand new Interview with Liz Fraser
The Running, Jumping & Standing Still Film
Cinefile: Seller's Best

Great film. It was supposed to be released last month, but got delayed until January. I'm going to play the waiting game & wait 'till the price comes down a bit. £16.25 is a bit much, but StudioCanal's prices are always on top, it'll come down.
