Nothing to do with film scores but does anyone have the lyrics to this song? I have a recording of a Welsh choir singing it but the lyrics are not all clear. It begins:
Here's one set of lyrics I found. There are probably others. I saw the name of Harold J. Rome associated with some English lyrics, but I haven't seen any lyrics identified as his.
CAVALRY OF THE STEPPES (TRAD./RSC)
SEE OVER THE STEPPELAND SEE OUR MIGHTY HOSTS GO RIDING COSSACK HORSEMEN IN THEIR THOUSANDS COSSACK HORSEMEN IN THEIR THOUSANDS
SEE HOW THE SWEETHEARTS WEEP TO SEE THEM RIDE TO BATTLE SAY GOODBYE NOW TO YOUR LOVED ONES SAY GOODBYE NOW TO YOUR LOVED ONES
LOOK DOWN THE ROAD LOVE LOOK ALONG THE ROAD THEY TRAVEL IN THE DUST THEIR VOICES DYING IN THE DUST THEIR VOICES DYING
So, that's three separate sets of lyrics, none of which contain the phrase mentioned in the first post. At this point, you might as well make up your own lyrics.
