THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11 STAR TREK 3---Jonathan Frakes (STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT) said he contacted Paramount Pictures about directing the sequel after Roberto Orci was dismissed, "I'm all over it. I would love that job. I'm trying to keep the lid on how excited I am about the possibility, knowing it's such a long shot. But there's nothing I would like better." Orci posted that he's still involved with the sequel and denied rumors that the script he co-wrote involved Vulcans using time travel to save Vulcan, "I will be very involved...Still excited to make Trek 3! And on time. We'll find the right director! No time travel was ever considered, fyi." THE FOUNDER---movie underway about the creation of McDonald's by Ray Kroc who obtained the fast food restaurant from brothers Dick and Mac McDonald. John Lee Hancock (THE BLIND SIDE) is in negotiations to direct the movie. Michael Keaton is in talks to star after Tom Hanks wasn't interested. THE INTERVIEW---leaked emails from the Sony Pictures hacking scandal reveal that Seth Rogen reluctantly toned down the death scene of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un after Sony Corporation head Kazuo Hirai asked Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal to reduce the violence in the scene. Speculation is that the hacking was done by North Korea to protest the movie. Pascal emailed Rogen, "I'm not taking no for an answer. If I was prepared to do that, we would have been done a long time ago... I would have done the easy thing and shut this down but I haven't, much to everyone's incredible annoyance here. This isn't some flunky. It's the chairman of the entire Sony Corporation who I am dealing (with). I haven't the foggiest notion how to deal with Japanese politics as it relates to Korea so all I can do is make sure that Sony won't be put in a bad situation and even that is subjective." Rogen later emailed that he had, "...removed the fire from the hair and the entire secondary wave of head chunks...Please tell us this is over now." Other leaked emails reveal that a crossover movie involving the MEN IN BLACK and 21 JUMP STREET movies is underway with a high priority. Jonah Hill indicated he approves the movie although a script hasn't been written yet. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith might appear in cameo roles or not at all. SPECTRE---leaked Sony Pictures emails said Andrew Scott (SHERLOCK) will play James Bond's superior known as "C" and that he was paid $1 million less than was offered to Chiwetel Ejiofo. Also, SPECTRE head Ernst Stavro Blofeld and a "lesbian bad lady" will appear in the sequel. Other emails show that producer Barbara Broccoli rejected MGM's request to cut the sequel's mid-$300 million budget to $250 million. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES---Christian Bale commented on fan speculation that the sequel's ending where Alfred sees Bruce Wayne with Selena Kyle is really a dream or wishful thinking and Batman died in the explosion, "He [Alfred] was just content with [Bruce] being alive, and left because that was always the life that we wanted for him. I find it very interesting, and I think with most films I tend to always say it's what the audience thinks it is. My personal opinion is no, it was not a dream. That was for real, and he [Bruce] was just delighted that finally he had freed himself from the privilege, but ultimately the burden, of being Bruce Wayne." MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER---ABC released a poster for the January 6 premiere. Also, Blair Underwood will appear on MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. as Melinda May's ex-husband. CORMORAN STRIKE---BBC One tv series underway based on the JK Rowling Cormoran Strike crime novels THE CUCKOO'S CALLING and THE SILKWORM which are written under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith. FARGO---Kirsten Dunst (SPIDER-MAN) and Jesse Plemons (BREAKING BAD) have joined the Season 2 cast as a beautician and her butcher's assistant husband. GHOSTBUSTERS---Rebel Wilson said she's in talks to co-star in the all-female reboot movie, “I have had a meeting. But who knows? They will have to look at the script when it’s finished…"
