The new Q, actor Ben Whishaw revealed in a recent radio interview that the next Bond song was allready in place. Now, that was early! The film is released almost a year from now.

If true, there should be no reason not to incorporate the song into the score (unless it stinks).

I call BS on this.

If EON had decided who was to write the song, or perform it, they would have done some form of PR for it, as is their custom.

I guess it will be a new Adele song - and it will be revealed as part of her next album coming next fall. That´s why they keep quiet for now.

I just hope Newman will included part of the song in the score.

From what i read Skyfall was ready long before he wrote his score for the film but managed to not include anything until the producers felt that it would be nice to have at least some moment of it (the macao intro).

I know i'm a fan and that most people don't care about this, but this maybe part of why i don't really liked his score for Skyfall and why i hoped for Arnold to come back...

I thought it had already been revealed that Sam Smith has been approached to record it.

This is the problem with modern journalism. It's not journalism, it's taking comments and rumors and reporting them like they're true.

True journalism is you research the facts. If it's backed up by the paper trail or is corroborated, you report it as fact. If it isn't, you report it as, "so-and-so says, ..."

This is unknown to the army of amateur "journalists" on the blogosphere.

In short, no Sam Smith has not been "announced" or confirmed as approached. That's not to say he hasn't been, but at this time the status of that "fact" is "rumor".

And people make mistakes. Sometimes people misunderstand or mishear the question. Sometimes they speak from guesses, assumptions or, "I think I heard that...". Sometimes, they just fuddle their words and say "song" when they mean "script" or whatever. Sometimes, they're playing games with us. Sometimes, we the audience misinterpret.

In short, I don't doubt what Ben Wishaw said, but this is not a fact till its a fact by journalism standards, i.e. confirmed.

I would be stupefied if the song had already been recorded.

Cheers

i was gonna post exactly that because we had yet another thread on it.
then i found yet another thread saying Smith denies bond rumour.

with a year to go i think we need a thread that just says: Spectre Bond song!! - which could encompass rumours, announcements, denials, speculation, who could have done it better, how does the new one compare to the last one etc etc etc

My sources tell me that Mendes has rejected early demos by Thomas Newman and Junkie xl has taken over scoring duties ....:-)

Hey, the lyricists among us can even build up a symbolic song for practice. Why, I declare, this thread is the perfect spot.

How hard can it be?

Excellent post Stephen, and by coincidence I was just watching the excellent show The Newsroom which was dealing with that issue...

He`small, but he`s butch
He`s from the pool of secret agents
So blond - he represents `em
Mr. Dan Dan Craig Craig

His films - aren`t that good
He`s paid more than all the others
A stud, for single mothers
Mr. Dan Dan Craig Craig

Very like - the texas ranger
He´s also so miscast
Like my wife he needs a surgeons knife
Despite all the muscles he amassed

Outlast `em all, the April`s fool
He ain`t so cool - as balding scotsman
Not suave as galant yachtsmen
Mr. Dan Dan Craig Craig

...and so forth....anyone!?

Paloma Faith would a fantastic choice, if somewhat in the Adele mode:

Finally someone who got it! If anyone is up to it, please continue this very poetic attempt at getting the SPECTRE son, just right! smile

Is it just me or does it make sense that Lana Del Rey might end up doing this? Not who I'd choose, but it seems like she'd be a natural decision for the studio.
