Yeah, I'll probably get the remastered Journey To The Centre Of the Earth. It's been a huge favourite ever since I first saw it in (I think) the Christmas holidays of 1961. I hope it's a big upgrade over the last Blu-ray , which I didn't think looked so hot.

The Twilight Time APRIL LOVE will replace the pan-and-scanned abomination released on MOD DVD by the Fox Cinema Archives last year. I hope this marks the beginning of other Fox CinemaScope reissues that replace those Archive horrors.

FRIGHT NIGHT: 30th Anniversary Edition (1985) BLU-RAY - Jan 20th (Limited Edition of 5,000 units.)

Does this mark the first re-issue of a previous Twilight Time release? The original TT disc came out in December 2011, with a quantity of 3,000. There must be a huge demand for this to cause TT to press an additional 5,000 discs so soon. But perhaps the 30th Anniversary Edition will have new features that will cause previous buyers to upgrade. (The first disc had an isolated music score and two trailers.)

They're also re-releasing "Journey to the center of the Earth" although I suppose a new remastering isnt exactly a re-issue.

The remastered JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH should look much improved over the previous transfer, which was from an interpositive made from YCM black and white protection negatives, which means greater grain and less sharpness. I assume the 4K remaster is from a scan of the original camera negatives, which I know are too faded to produce a good photo-chemical interpositive but can generate a good digital copy, which can be tweaked to near perfection depending on how much Fox spends on the effort. Assuming the work is adequate, the 4K JOURNEY should be close to the level of what was achieved with the restoration of Fox's THE ROBE.

The first Journey To The Centre Of The Earth Blu-ray was obviously from an old HD master, the same one they used to make the DVD, as you can see from the frames at caps-a-holic. The picture is exactly the same, just the Blu is a wee bit sharper, which actually make it look worse, as it shows up the grain more:

I'm so glad that Fox thought enough of this film to have another go at it. I'm expecting a BIG improvement.

Cloud Nine cd release of FIRST MEN IN THE MOON seems complete. Or is there additional music in the film?

Four of the five April releases are "must-haves" for me.

Gosh!
