I know there are probably previous threads here about this score, I may have even started them. I don't care. I have to declare that this score is now my top, my holy grail, my favorite. I have a cdr from a copy that I borrowed from a friend some years back. For some reason I had a temporary touch of amnesia and thought I had the original. I play it on my iPod anyway. I am grateful for the cdr.

I could play this gorgeous score over and over and not get sick of it. My dream is that someday, someone re-releases it. For now, I am happy with what I have. Just had to share this for some reason!!

It's my favorite Delerue and one of my favorite romance scores, ever. While I wish the Mancini-esque choir wasn't there, the end title cue plays as a rapturous celebration of the goodness of life. It's magnificent.

There can never be enough threads about this one!

A fantastic score with a stunning theme and one of the best epic / adventure tracks ever!

Even my "pop/rock" loving mate loves this theme!

I feel very fortunate to own the VS cd.

A beautiful score, a shamelessly under appreciated gem of a movie.

A remaster would be nice since the Varese release is mixed a bit too loud, but given that this title appears to be owned by Varese then any potential reissue would probably sound exactly the same.

This title is available on digital download sites (Itunes and HDtracks) for those that don't own a copy.

We had a case of double insomnia last night so I decided to pop in this movie. I did not realize that my daughter had not seen this movie. Well what better time to watch than at 3:00 am in the morning? She seemed to enjoy it and kept commenting on how young Tom Hanks looked. smile What was even more interesting was how she focused on the music. She loved the "Love Theme". She was so so on the movie. However, I may actually have one more film music fan in the house. If so, she could not have picked a better score to cut her teeth on. This and AI? Not too bad eh?

I love this goofy stupid film and the score is just THE BUSINESS!!
I used to quote so many lines from it in the years gone by (I'm NOT arguing that with you).
It may just be my ALL TIME FAVOURITE Delerue score.
The Varese CD is a cherished member of my collection.

So funny that you mention that. She lost it when Joe tells his boss he looks like a bag of s#$% in a cheap suit. I am afraid she is going to use that one on somebody. No one is funnier than Dan Hedaya either.

Quite possibly the most beautiful film score I've ever heard.

Leo, I have to agree. Have actually listened to it 3 times in a day once while at work.

So... what are the odds of a re-release of this score? I've caught the Delerue bug recently and what I've heard of this score just sounds sumptuous.

Drivingmissdaisy, if you see this - is there someone that I could write to at Varese to suggest this as an entry in the Encore series?

Or, if anyone out there has one they want to sell or trade, see my post on the Trading Post side!

Chris

One of the best. I love it to death.

The main themes - The rich adventurous triplet-infused one that bookends the end title and the love theme - Are what made me fall in love with Delerue.

This was my first exposure to his music, and oh boy, what an impact it made!

Despite the incredibly messy third act, I love the film's brilliant art direction and rich existential message.
