always liked nicolais Don Giovani. had the single first, then the LP.
nice Alessandroni whistling.

its just scary the volume of italian releases.
Plenty is better than too few, but its worrying that if the market dies then one day it could become no releases!

Particularly looking forward the unreleased Fusco, one of my favorite composer. I have the Nicolai on LP and I agree that the main theme is one of his best.

There was certainly a drop in Beat, Digitmovies and GDM Hillside CD recently (well the later seems missing in action), after a peak perhaps last winter, probably because of the increase of Italian releases from Kronos Gold and Quartet. Also notice the limited 300 editions from GDM lately.

I'm certainly not complaining, since I am not necessarily interested in everything anyway. As I mentioned in one other thread, I am surprised the Italian labels can keep up a faster release rate than the US label.

Always great to see a new Nicolai release smile I will be ordering this.

The music on the other two CDs isn't really my style, but I'm digging the cover of Sangraal!

Keep up the good work on the Italian releases!

Giovanni Fusco is the composer of greatest interest to me within this latest threesome in the KRONGOLD line.

INVASION 1700 is from 1962. It's interesting that in the next 2 years, Fusco would compose 2 adventure scores for director Umberto Lenzi (SANDOKAN LA TIGRE DI MOMPRACEM & I TRE SERGENTI DEL BENGALA) ...

... while after these, Lenzi used Francesco de Masi for LA MONTAGNA DI LUCE

Perhaps this collaboration between Fusco & de Masi on COL FERRO E COL FUO led to Fusco suggesting de Masi for Lenzi's '64 LA MONTAGNA DI LUCE?

KRONGOLD is now extending to soundtrack from 1982!

(1979 was previously the youngest year in the KRONGOLD line roll eyes )

A request for Kronos: It would be nice to have the name of the conductor, which are systematically missing from the CDs in this series. In some cases, like Bruno Nicolai - Don Giovanni In Sicilia, we already know from the LP, but for COL FERRO E COL FUOCO, it would be interesting to know.

!

The whistler in the main theme doesn't sound like Alessandroni at all in my opinion.
And indeed, Sandro confirms in an old interview that it wasn't him - apparenty it
was a woman who used to whistle back then.

really? fair enough. Thought he cornered the market for italian whistling during this period. Bow to your better knowledge mikael, although ive heard Alex whistle in person and he can do so many different types of whistling it sounded like him. So do we know this womans name or is she a mystery?

edit: actualy mikael, now you point it out, i do seem to recall Alex mentioning this woman in an old MSV interview, but i didnt realise it was in relation to Don Gio. You learn something new everyday! Good spot mate.

So to amend - Niice whistling - by a woman that isnt Alessandroni!!!

THE FIRST 3 TITLES FOR 2015 ON THE GOLD COLLECTION
Pre-orders open Today 5th December 2014

So far, I haven't seen any of these titles available for pre-order at SAE or Intrada.

Will Kronos Records CDs for 2015 no longer be available for purchase via other vendors?

Having finally been able to listen to Don Giovanni In Sicilia, I want to share my enjoyment about this wonderful release!

What a vibrant and exciting score it is: Nicolai has written multiple great themes (one of them foreshadowing a piece in Morricone's 'Malèna'!) that alternate fluently on the disc and each individually receive several colourful variations. His composing and orchestrating skills are in full display in this joyful score that is destined to put a big smile on your face! And the sound of this nearly 40-year old recording is delightfully crystal clear.

After 'Vita Di Michelangelo', this is another triumphant Nicolai addition to Kronos Records' catalogue (and on top of this treat, we even got a practically simultaneous release of Nicolai's fabulous 'Justine' by Digitmovies!), and I hope we may see several more in the future!

Indeed. I had this Nicolai score in vinyl LP, but the new complete presentation is much better. Several other LPs would make nice releases, such as Il Pelo Nel Mondo, L'Alpin L'È Sempre Quel, Civiltà del Mediterraneo, Paolo e Francesca, Allora, Il Treno and Ciao, Ciao. The latter two had the main themes released on compilations. Some of them include new versions of themes on other soundtracks. Most notably, Paolo e Francesca includes some cool lounge themes from Eugenie de Sade, including "Tropical" which I think is the same version. There are also a dozen library LPs that are quite good, altough some of the based on a single concert (organ only, guitar only, etc).
