Pretty obscure I know & I'm not sure how much music there would be. I always enjoyed the jazzy sound of the show. I know the main themes were by Henry Mancini & the rest was done by Richard Lewis Warren. I'd love a cd of this series music.

I hadn't watched the show in years but bought the DVDs & have been enjoying rediscovering it. I always thought the music was an overlooked component of the show. It really added a certain elegance. I remember watching it first run & loving the end credit music. As I watched it in syndication over the years, the music never failed to impress me.

Yes, please.

And "Moonlighting", too!

If I remember correctly, the second season's jaunty, upbeat main title was based on a brief overscore cue from the first season. And I remember liking the S1 cue even better than the S2 main title.

It's amazing in the first season score. I've never heard anything that matched it. It has a lightness and a panache that never got duplicated. As I've discovered: It's a theme that people (even Mancini) can get very very wrong.

I'm near thr end of season one & I'm really loving the music. I'm also surprised at how this show got off to such a strong start. Didn't take long to find it's identity.

This is my holiest grail! Every episode had an original score with memorable themes throughout.
From season 2 on, they got away somewhat from the jazzy style towards more traditional orchestral scoring. Check out the season 2 premiere, "Steele Away With Me" for a prophetic James Bond / From Russia With Love parody score. Several other episodes featured parody movie scores ("The Sting" was one) as the Steele character was a movie buff. The season 5 premiere has some great chase-through-the-jungle music. There were also 4 different versions of the theme song and a couple of different end credit sequences. I would think the scores would appeal to Steele fans, Mancini fans, maybe Brosnan Bond fans, and fans of 80s and earlier film music in general.

Richard Lewis Warren is one of my favorite TV composers. His DALLAS scores are excellent. His writing alsways remined me a bit of Jerry Fielding. Also his work on REMINGTON STEELE is fantastic.

Each episode was based on another classic movie. Thus Lewis Warren based each score on the score of that particular movie. Which resulted in very diverse scores.

I would buy such a release immeditately.

Hi everyone,

Enjoying Tim Jones' Chuck TV soundtrack today as I write.

I would also LOVE to purchase soundtracks from the TV series Remington Steele (especially seasons 1-3). I felt the music added a LOT to the show, which was excellent detective adventure with wonderful chemistry between the characters. Episodes often seemed to have their own score well-tailored to the story. The music stood out just enough to enjoy without overpowering other elements of the show.

The DVDs are a very nice standard definition presentation of the film content, but the music is worth exploring too. I know chances may be low, but think it really deserves at least a consideration. I can't say what the market might be, but I'd eagerly pay $30 for good 2CD content from the first 2 seasons!

Belated bump.

So ... is the House of Mouse now the owner of the music from this MTM production?
