I just love this score. I remember seeing the film in early 1993 and going back a second time because it was so good. Saw it on the big screen again at BFI just last year. Score is just so effective..........and a beautiful stand alone listen. I never weary of it. I have both albums but an expanded, remastered version of the original would be welcome.

Or the UK DVD with isolated score... The Taiwan DVD isolated score that I have is even better, because there's no PAL speedup, and no pitch shift.

Considering the popularity of the music and the film, I guess the labels have already tried to get this released. Does anyone know more about the possibilities for an expanded album? Jones would have to cooperate in order for an expansion to be released. That seems to be the holdup for any and all expansions of his music. Remember The Dark Crystal? If I remember right, he refused to cooperate, so the expanded disc was basically an isolated score pressed to CD, edits and all. He supposedly claimed that he was going to release an expansion himself. Nearly twenty years later, everyone is still waiting. Hmm, maybe, and there have been very few Trevor Jones releases these past decades. The only two I can think of that are somewhat recent are the expanded editions of Cliffhanger and Nate and Hayes. I don't know if he was involved in those releases, but I would think that approval from Mr. Jones isn't a legal necessity. You'd think the rights are controlled by the studio and maybe Morgan Creek who released the original album. Anyway, it was said in the past that John Williams didn't support expanded releases to many of his scores either, and look where we're at now! I am hoping that we will see the same happening with Trevor Jones releases.

Definitely an excellent movie with excellent music and I haven't seen much beyond it that is similar, other than LORD OF THE RINGS actually which has some similarities to how nature is presented and photographed, especially with its characters trekking through the wilderness. The score re-recording is what I gravitate towards for certain cues, but I like the rawness of the original for stuff like the "Fort Battle", "Courier" and "Elk Hunt". Does anyone remember the original version of the film when there was a "searching" montage set to the "I Will Find You" song? It was almost like a music video right in the middle of the film, but the Clannad song gave it an interesting LOTR-like vibe.
