For those fans of many of Glen Larson's shows, I regret to inform you that Glen passed away of cancer just recently. He was a long time friend of mine as well as employer since 1964.
Always knew him from the association with you on all those shows from QUINCY to BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA but didn't know when he was with the Four Preps he wrote "Santa Catalina", which I unconsciously sing or hum every time I go there.
Mr. Phillips, you were the first person I thought of when I read of his passing in here. My sincere condolences for the loss of your friend. He created a number of shows that were so enjoyable while I was growing up and still are. Both of you made very memorable and fun series.
I'm a bit too young to have grown up with him (and unfortunately, many of his creations never aired in Norway), but it's a name I've always been aware of in circles like these, so I'm well aware of his legacy. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, Stu. Condolences from Norway.
May he rest in peace. It's been a real pleasure to spend time in the worlds he created, or helped to create. My condolences go out to his friends and family.
My strongest recollection of Larson's work comes from watching the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA 3-part pilot episode, which was released as a theatrical movie here in Europe back in 1978. I watched it in Oslo's biggest cinema (Colosseum), with Universal's "Sensurround" sound system. When those Viper fighters shot out of the launch tubes... Wow!!
And of course, your majestic and exhilarating music was a big part of that experience, Stu!
My condolences to you and to Larson's family and other friends.
