Goldsmith's main title for SECONDS features one of the most disturbing uses of organ I've ever heard in a film score. Any other examples?

(at 1:51 in the clip above, the main title is truncated and segued into another cue)

If I recall, isn't the entire score to "Carnival of Souls" played on one of those creepy sounding pipe organs?

Sorry I don't have any clips and I am not exactly sure if it's a organ but what about Il Sorriso del Grande Tentatore? (The Devil is a Woman - 1974). Composed by Ennio Morricone

Surprised no one has mentioned one of the most "demented" (albeit in a much different way than the rest here) organ cues ever - the "Haunted Organ" from Vic Mizzy's marvelous "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPad47e8gNI

It's typical Mizzy in that it's completely crazy, and deliriously delightful!

Not quite demented, but Prelude from Tales from the Hood.

Haha. Me too, Francis, in a good way.

Great picks, guys. Keep 'em coming!

You may want to give Il Duca di Wuttenberg from Nino Rota's Il Casanova (Fellini) a try Josh. Not exclusively demented organ, but rather beautifully demented across the board.

Indeed, my friend. An easy feat since you so kindly sent me the CD a while back, and what a gem it is. smile

WICKED, WICKED (just out from Warner Archives) features a demented looking old lady playing the score from THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1925) on a pipe organ. The "old-timey" organ music clashes disturbingly with WICKED's 1970's-styled knife killings.

Bernard Herrmann's OBSESSION contains great organ cues, but I don't think that "demented" would be an apt description.

Lots of Italian scores from this period contain intense organ freakout tracks. Morricone, Piccioni, etc.
