I have never seen any CD this expensive. Is this a joke?

There was a used one for 5.88. You could save a little if you don't want it sealed.

For that price, THE ROOM better come with 3 hookers and gourmet food and drink for a week in Paris!

The hell with THE VIEW!

Ridiculous. It's worth no more than half what he's asking.

$100 each minute!

I can only imagine that people who ask insane prices are hoping that someone, somewhere, misreads the price and in their hurry, clicks "Buy".
Like mistaking $9,999 for $9.99, or suchlike. Place a hundred crazy listings and I suppose there's a chance someone might misread one and buy it.

Pretty ridiculous, but then the Amazon Marketplace seems to have quite a few such sellers. I've found it much worse for completely unrealistic asking prices on so-called "rare items" than eBay. Several copies of this same soundtrack, both sealed and used, are available on eBay this minute from prices ranging from $7.50 to no more than about $20.

When the "Complete Peanuts" volumes from Fantagraphics periodically sell out, the prices on Amazon Marketplace skyrocket, often exceeding $1000, despite the fact Fantagraphics always announces their plans for a reprint within about a year or so. Just plain greed, pure and simple. Undoubtedly a few buyers who don't know any better have fallen prey to these sellers over the years, which is all the reason they need to keep trying.

Maybe they meant Yen?

Since they are from Japan I believe you have the correct answer there. Congrats.

Several years ago, there was a post here linking to seller having item up for $5,000 if I recall the price correctly. Some here perhaps will remember...

Of course it's a joke. My suggestion is to always write the seller and ask him/her if he/she's out their mind or what reason they could possibly have for doing such a thing - then I would report them to eBay for trying to bilk people. But the real thing of it is, if eBay still operates as it used to, listing something for that stupid kind of money is not cheap in itself.

Similarly, I was just browsing Ebay, and came across the soundtrack to "Attack of the Clones" --- listed by one seller for only $104.99!! And it's not even the slightly harder-to-find 14 track TARGET version; it's just the standard 13 track version.

What are they thinking?

I guess there's nothing illegal about it. (No one has a gun pointed at their head to pay that price.) But really? Do they truly believe someone is likely to pay that much for something so common and easily available?
