Actress Marcia Strassman, best known for playing Gabe Kaplan's wife on "Welcome Back Kotter", but was also best known for playing Rick Moranis' wife in "Honey, I Shrunk The Kid" and its sequels, died after a long battle with breast cancer. Rememberances?
She was also in M*A*S*H early on. I remember her from that and Kotter.
That was my experience as well, with maybe some other bits scattered here and there on movies of the week and such like. But I felt she was so underused for her type of screen presence.
Her obit said she was also a musician. Apparently she gave some of her time to singing, although I found no solo album on Amazon, not that that means anything necessarily. I aways thought she was lovely on KOTTER, and I'm so sorry she had such a hard time of it and such an early exit.
One of her first acting roles was as a singer who becomes a murder victim on a first season "Ironside" in 1967 and that I believe does show off her singing skills.
I remember Strassman in a terrific Harry Shearer short produced in 1985 for "David Letterman's Holiday Film Festival." It was a hilarious psuedo-documentary about the making of an "industrial musical" called YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE OUR WORLD, featuring Strassman, Michael McKean, Shearer, and Cristopher Guest.
