You mean like a pair of highly sought after Goldsmith LP reissues? The complete score to an oscar winner? Yeah I'm sure NO ONE wanted those...

Perhaps you'll see this one day from Intrada. When they stop releasing stuff no one asked for.

When they stop releasing stuff you didn't ask for. There, fixed it for you. Git.

What a rude and ignorant thing to say. I can`t think of a record label that has released so many wonderful previously unreleased scores in such a great way.

I took up listening to this score again after reading Joan Hue's comments and I found James Newton Howard's writing for this film has held up very well.

I first heard this music over the film's trailer (essentially the first few minutes of the movie unedited) and marveled at the expanses of digitally reborn dinosaurs set to the CD's second track "The Egg Travels." While the film left me a bit let down, I was quite impressed with the music. You can question creative choices all you want, but the fact remains that this music works in (and out of) the film - it just fits so well. It's music that you feel is right without intellectualizing wether it's okay to use African chorus or not (he also uses harpsichord in one sequence).

The current soundtrack is a great combination of highlights that doesn't overwhelm or overstay its welcome - it is in the top echelon of James Newton Howard scores. For me, the only other JNH score that comes close to capturing that feeling of exultation is PETER PAN (he seems to be inspired by flying sequences!).

Thanks for putting it back in my rotation!

JSD, glad you are back listening to this score. I, like you, find PETER PAN exhilarating. I thought parts of HIDALGO also show jubilance.

I will have to check out HILDAGO as I have not seen or heard that one. Thanks for that recommendation!

If you like Peter Pan and Dinosaur, I venture to say you will really enjoy Hidalgo too. It is fantastic ! I never understood why it doesn't seem to get more love in JNH's canon. The music is great and the CD just SOUNDS wonderful too.
