Ditto for me. I recently bought a copy of the old Canadian Varese CD in a 50% off sale from SAE, hoping that might somehow "inspire" a new CD release. I had no idea that it would actually work!

...all I did was listen to it.

I just finished watching the film for the first time about 10 minutes ago. Fantastic score. Eagerly awaiting the new release(s).

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

These are amazing times for soundtrack fans.

They are times like we never dare imagine back in the 80s where the best you could hope for was the occasional un-remastered reissue of an LP program with poor art reproduction and little or no notes.

Cheers

Mixed feelings about the film - I love it feverently for its sense of hysteria but am uncomfortable at how close it treads to Vertigo - but the score is out and out genius. One of my favorites from Herrmann. All I have is the old Unicorn album (Welles Raises Kane) and am EXCEEDINGLY happy someone is finally taking this on.

My only question is what took 'em so long!

One more holy grail off the list. Thanks to all involved.

If you make a donation to the Tadlow Music Charity....I'll spend it wisely

This is exciting news. Truly one of my very few holy grails...and we'll get the new recording and probably the album tracks too with its own release.
A beautiful score!

I'm looking forward to hearing my favorite cue. It's the "passage of time" sequence during which the camera does a 360° pan from Cliff Robertson to the tomb and back to Robertson many years later.

Hi James!
I posted this question in the wrong thread, so here it is....

Did Herrmann write on the score which stops he wanted used on the organ?

It's very exiting news about Obsession and Duel in the Sun. Both are a must-buy for me. Thanks for the great work James. smile

Any hints James on the Rozsa score? I'm guessing either Thief of Bagdad, Sodom and Gomorrah or Golden Voyage of Sinbad. Whatever it is, I'll buy it for sure.

Although I and (I hope) many others will of course buy BOTH releases of "Obsession", I guess timing is key here. Coming out first is going to help sales better than coming out second.

However, I do sincerely hope that both labels involved do very well indeed out of their respective releases.

Cheers

This is very exciting news! I'm looking forward to hearing this score in its full glory!

I will be getting both releases of Obsession as well, as my Welles Raises Kane CD no longer plays through, unfortunately. Things like this are one of the reasons why I'm glad I still hung on to my LPs.

I have the LP, so if the content will not be expanded, I will pass and leave it for another Herrmann obsessive.

I will buy the new recording. But even if it weren't coming out, I would likely still pass on the other. I don't feel compelled to re-purchase LPs on CD.

I too hope that the reissue won't simply be the 38 minute LP edit. James' rerecording will provide the complete score.

Absolutely thrilling news. An immediate purchase -- heck, I would have even put some money into a kickstarter campaign for this score. I love it that much. Thank you!

This is excellent news. If I could pre-order now, without even hearing samples, I would.

Please, take my money. This is my #1 "holy grail".

OBSESSION has been my only Holy Grail, and I too would have contributed to a Kickstarter Campaign for it. I'm also ready to preorder copies as soon as its announced.

Listening to Fitz's QB-VII recording; if his Obsession is anything like this (and it will be) we're in for a real delight. A huge thank-you in advance to James and the musicians.
