Jan Hooks was a SNL cast member during a time when I watched the show pretty regularly (late '80s through early '90s). In fact her departure, and the departure of some of the other cast members caused me to give up the show for a while. She appeared in some of my favorite sketches from that time, and did some great celebrity impressions. Thinking about her Sinead O'Connor impression still makes me laugh. I also loved her Sweeney Sisters bit, particularly the sketch with Paul Simon where he had to endure their rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water. Here is a link with some of her best sketches: https://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/jan-hooks-best-snl-characters-231444026.html

Rest in peace, and thanks for the laughs.

Jan was one of the all time best female SNL players and on the team during it's best years.

Such a funny, talented and beautiful lady! I always had a big crush on her.

So sad to hear of her passing.

"Clang clang clang went the trolley!"

Condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.

I wasn't a fan of SNL during her years there, but before SNL she did some excellent work on the comedy sketch show TUSH which ran on WTBS from Atlanta in the 80's. The show has pretty much disappeared from the radar which is a shame. The show and Hooks were often hilarious.

I very much liked Bill Tush when he worked for CNN (full marks to the man for calling Ted Turner "Mr. Fonda" to his face live on air).
