I thought it was a fun show. It shares some of Arrow's strengths and weaknesses: strong cast, great visuals, fun action, but corny dialogue and some eye-rolling soap opera type subplots. The show definitely has potential, and I like the lead. I think his acting has improved since his guest appearances as Barry Allen on this past season of Arrow. The music was quite good, and I will definitely pick up the soundtrack if it gets a release. I also thought it was a nice touch to have John Wesley Ship playing Barry's father, and I am looking forward to seeing Amanda Pays. As a Firestorm fan, I am curious to see how he will be handled. It was great hearing Victor Garber was cast as Martin Stein, and it will be interesting to see how Ronnie Raymond is handled, played by Stephen Amell's cousin. Anyway, I enjoyed the pilot, and I am looking forward to the next episode.

Greg, are'nt you too old to be watching comic book shows on the CW? huh? brm nP; ARROW Well, as per Riotengine's recommendation I watched season one. IF GE had watched SMALLVILLE he probably would not be so full of praise for this show. Above all else, FLASH is a complete rip-off of SMALLVILLE. There are simply too many structural, character and specific plot lines to categorize. SUffice to say the producers simply Xeroxed the show and replaced Clark Kent with Barry ALlen.+ Now, go watch GOTHAM, DAMMITT!!! BRM ps xoxoxoox +" A detail I liked: the freak storm that gave Barry his speed has affected many other people, which announces and accounts for the future appearance of "metahuman" villains. "

" I just watched The Flash Of Two Worlds and my opinion hasn't changed. I did see a few episodes of Smallville and was unimpressed. That was a show that seemed embarrassed by its superhero roots, while The Flash fully embraces them, in a good way, with a very likeable lead actor. When the Flash Of Two Worlds episode did their homage to the classic Flash cover, man...that just made me tear up. Well done, Greg Berlandt. These guys get it. http://nerdist.com/the-flash-review-flash-of-two-worlds/ Greg Espinoza

Riotengine hit the nail in the head with regard to why The Flash and Smallville are so different, even if there's some superficial similarity (mainly the whole "freak of the week" thing, although The Flash has moved away from that somewhat in more recent episodes). The Flash embraces the comic schlock of its origin, while Smallville almost seemed embarrassed by it. That's probably due in no small part to having a main star who was adamant, from the very first to the very last episode, that he would never don the costume. As a result, The Flash is much more fun to watch, and Barry is a more likable main character than Clark was on Smallville. All the shameless use of time travel, an alternate art deco dimension, mentions of Atlantis and Gorilla City... I don't even read comics, but I find it much closer in tone to the old Superman or Justice League animated series than other recent live-action TV shows based on comic properties. The supporting cast is also better in The Flash; Tom Cavanagh in particular is just great... so far he's played two different versions of the same character in each season, successfully making them feel very different... and in Season 3 he could possibly play yet another version of the same person (at this point I think it's just the writers having fun with it... how many different versions of Harrison Wells can they come up with for him to play?
