I particularly like the "group shot" of all the CDs from the various LLL BTAS releases...

That is very cool
SO, who is left for Vol 4? smile

MV

So MV, can I interpret you comment to mean that a "Vol. 4" to close out the original 65 with all the previously-unreleased music from them (probably a two-disc set, to mirror Vol. 1) is actually in the cards? I would be very happy if so, but you'd previously stated that after "Vol. 3" you would be done with releasing material from the original 65 and moving on to "The Adventures of Batman and Robin".

I know John Takis agrees with me though that every single complete score of this magnificent series deserves to be released (and I know there were cues left off of the Vol. 1 release).

Can you give us any hope on the subject? I know these continue to sell well enough...

WOW! Thanks for the answer, MV!

Now I won't give you a wish list for this volume because I figure every last remaining unreleased scrap can fit on 2 discs. smile

Looking forward to The Adventures of Batman & Robin, New Batman Adventures, and Superman Vol. 2 as well!

Excellent news, thank you MV. smile

Can you say if Volume 4 will come before or after The Adventures of Batman & Robin?

The set is great! It arrived yesterday and I've listened to the four discs. The scores are absolutely wonderful. In addition to old personal favourites like "The Man Who Killed Batman" and "I Am the Night", it's also great to have other stunners like "P.O.V.", "Tyger Tyger", "Cat Scratch Fever", "The Forgotten" and "Be a Clown". I'm very happy with this set!

The booklet is a great read too, and I like the continuity with volume 2 in having a double page spread of the title cards from episodes selected for this set. Perhaps if we're lucky enough to get volume 4, and it includes unreleased material from the volume 1 scores, we might get a spread of the 11 volume 1 scores and the 9 volume 4 scores. wink

This is a great idea ShadowStar and I hope they do it. I'm also grateful for your posting of missing cues from the first BTAS volume. Was there any missing music from Scores in Vols. 2 or 3?

Bear in mind that I've made those cue titles up (I don't know the actual titles for those cues), but yeah, they represent cues which are missing from volume 1 - and now hopefully they will at last see the light of day on volume 4!

Was there any missing music from Scores in Vols. 2 or 3?

Not as far as I know.

Just wanted to add that there is a missing cue from "Vendetta" that I haven't taken account of before: it's the reprisal of Batman's theme in the final moments, after Bullock says that he's back and "ready to kick butt". It would be nice if this could be included on vol. 4, perhaps as part of an expanded version of the 'Bullock Gets the Croc' track. There ought to be room on a 2-disc volume 4 for all these missing vol. 1 score cues!

Has anyone seen Batman Animated V3 on Amazon? I have a ton of Amazon gift card balance and would like to get this set, but I can't seem to find it.

I wonder if the scores released as part of B:TAS volume 1 were taken from a different source to the scores for volumes 2 and 3. It could be my imagination, but the volume 1 scores don't sound quite as crisp as the scores that have been released on volumes 2 and 3.

Anyway, we're still very lucky to have this music. Hopefully volume 4 will be released this year and will have the missing cues from the volume 1 scores. It would be frustrating if those cues were to remain unreleased, so I hope La La Land will come through for us! Let 'em be bonus tracks - there should be space for them...

BTAS Vol. 1 used the same sources and mastering engineer as the others. I've not personally noticed a significant difference, but one thing to remember is that the series as a whole was recorded over many months by a large number of personnel. Not every episode had the same number of players or the same instrumentation. So while there was an overall continuity of sound, there was still some variation episode-to-episode.

Thanks for the clarification, Wedge. smile Though if the same sources were used, then I have to wonder how the volume 1 scores ended up being released incomplete while volumes 2 and 3 seem to have all the material from their episodes.

If the missing cues from the volume 1 scores are still MIA, then I hope they can be found in time for volume 4!

It's possible material was left off due to space (both Vol. 1 discs were packed) or even, being a somewhat unproven effort in the earlier C&C days, album direction. Either way I too hope this stuff is released as supplemental on a future Volume 4. smile

My guess is simple - when LLL planned to release FIRST edition they wanted to create not "volume one" but mostly "The Best of B:TAS", with Gotham Overture & Shirley's explanation about themes. That's why it was not C&C - it was designed for most pleasure listening.
But if some missing tracks will appear at vol.4, I also will be VERY happy (I hope that Jingle Bells with Mark Hamill's vocal will be include too).

Exactly, it was all due to reasons for space on the 2 discs. There was no guarantee of future volumes at that time, so they had to be judicious in their choices. I actually think some of those suites on Volume are the best of all the various volumes, due to the brevity, they get their best highlights out front first.
