Elmer Bernstein's brilliant "Themes From the GE Theater" is so good it deserves a topic of its own. The masterful Mr. Bernstein has written a collection of themes for The GE Theater just released on CD from Intrada. Every bit of music from Bernstein written for the GE program is outstanding. Originally released in 1959, I am in awe that this quality of music was written for TV back then.
I agree but there have been a few, only not on the Intrada release which I have not received yet. Maybe if you changed your title to include Intrada it will distinguish it from the others.
Regardless, a big 10-4 from me, RM. This collection has been one of my favorites since way back in its original Columbia LP incarnation. A fine sample of the thematic genius of Elmer Bernstein! He always gave it his all, even for the small screen.
Absolutely prime Bernstein from his golden period, the cream off the top of the bottle. What's staggering to realize is that the original LP producers could have released at least half a dozen more albums equally as good: Elmer wrote great original tunes for many more episodes than the 12 they happened to choose for this solitary LP.
