I know that some people here reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, and in case you haven't heard, the used CD/record store "CD Source" on Greenville Avenue at Lover's Lane off of Central Expressway will be closing soon. They have the largest selection of used soundtracks/scores in the area that I know of. They were already having a 30% off clearance sale that was supposed to end this Thursday, 9/25, but that may be extended for all I know. Below is the e-mail I received from their mailing list.

---------------------
AFTER 20 WONDERFUL YEARS, CD SOURCE WILL BE CLOSING SOON

Dear Valued Customers,

If someone had told me in 1993 that the store would be still be open in 2014, then I would have taken it in a heartbeat. Sadly, the wonderful run of over 20 years we have had will soon be coming to a close.

I've been informed by our Landlord that another tenant will be relocating to our space. After evaluating all of my options, I have made the most difficult decision that closing the store is the most practical. While I don't know the exact date we will close, it will be very soon.

I would love to hear from you about what CD Source has meant to you, the great music you've experienced because of our store, and any memories you wish to share. Please either email us or post on our Facebook page. We will be running specials and discounts, having in-store performances, and a few other things to offer you a chance to come and say good-bye to our store and staff.

Thank you so much for your support over the years! You will be missed.

Lance Price

Huge loss.

Just moved back to Portland from DFW. CD Source was my go-to store. Always had new stock and rarities. Great prices. Extremely generous trade value. Record Store Days. I could spend half a day there. Hard to believe since there was always so much traffic. Very sad to see it close.

The owner's e-mail said the landlord is renting their space to another store, and closing was really the only option for them. It's not the first time a store in that immediate area was forced out - my favorite Mexican restaurant, Mariano's, faced a similar fate about 10 years ago. And that's the place that invented the frozen margarita! At least Mariano's reopened a few years later.

Glancing over my collection, I've bought so much of it at CD Source... Goldsmith's "Lionheart" and "Legend"; Horner's "Zorro" scores, "Amazing Spiderman", "Sneakers", and just yesterday, "A Perfect Storm" (how did I miss that - it's great!), William's "Harry Potter" scores (fantastic!)... okay, I'll stop now. smile

Haha those we're probably mine! I offloaded a few before I moved and I sold them all you mentioned except Lionheart and Legend.

Hopefully they decide to keep it going and reopen at another location. They probably feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of compact discs they have crammed in that place.

Very sad news indeed. I've been a patron since he opened, though not as frequent since moving first to Wylie and now to Denton. I'd better get down there for one last bin crawl...

On the flip side, there will be a new store opening soon in Carrolton — Josey Records.
