WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17

SKULL ISLAND---Tom Hiddleston (THOR) will star in the prequel movie to KING KONG which features King Kong and the many monsters that inhabit Skull Island before the giant ape was captured and taken to New York. Jordan Vogt-Roberts (THE KINGS OF SUMMER) is the director.

BEN-HUR---Jack Huston (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) is in negotiations for the lead role in the Timur Bekmambetov remake movie. It will be more faithful to the novel than the Charlton Heston movie.

HUNTER KILLER---Martin Campbell (CASINO ROYALE) is in talks to direct this movie based on the novel in which a submarine skipper must transport a SEAL team to rescue the Russian president who has been kidnapped by a rogue general who wants to start World War III.

NEVER GO BACK---the sequel to JACK REACHER is underway. Lee Child said it's not known if Tom Cruise is returning, but director Christopher McQuarrie will not be returning due to a schedule conflict.

POWERS---photo released of the Sony PlayStation Network series based on the comic book which stars Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward as two police detectives who investigate superhero-related crimes. Premiere is in December.

DIG---USA Network series underway starring Jason Issacs (HARRY POTTER, BLACK HAWK DOWN) as an FBI agent investigating the murder of a female archaeologist in Jerusalem and uncovers a conspiracy which could change the course of history.

I'LL NEVER GET OUT OF THIS WORLD ALIVE---Chris Hemsworth is the star/producer of this movie based on the novel in which "Doc" Ebersole is haunted by Hank Williams' ghost after Williams died under mysterious circumstances in 1953. The movie is set 10 years later when Williams' ghost gives unwanted advice to Ebersole who is practicing unlicensed medicine in San Antonio's red light district.

GHOSTBUSTERS---Dan Ackroyd hopes to develop a Sony Pictures franchise similar to Star Wars or Marvel's superheroes, "It’s beyond just another sequel, a prequel, another TV show. I'm thinking what does the whole brand mean to Sony? What does Pixar and Star Wars mean to Disney? What does Marvel mean to Fox?"
Also, Krispy Kreme is releasing two Ghostbusters doughnuts to celebrate the movie's 30th anniversary. The North Carolina-based doughnut-maker will sell the doughnuts from September 29-October 31.

MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER---James D'Arcy will play butler Edwin Jarvis.

Jack Huston's character "Richard" in "Boardwalk Empire" quickly became a dominant presence in the 1st 4 years of the series, perhaps because he was "drawn that way", but more likely because his very presence drew attention, awe and respect from the audience. His character is missed this final year.

I'm unclear on this. Will the film have King Kong in it? Or will it be about other monsters of Skull Island?

That'll be you then. I know for a fact that you're 4 feet 5.6 inches taller than the Cruise.

They nicked my idea! I'm sure I posted in a few forums that Skull Island would be a good idea for a film. The Island was the best thing about King Kong, full of nightmare creatures, jungles & old crumbled-down temples. They should be able to make a fun film out of that lot, sounds better that Jurassic Park 4 anyway.
