So Your Beloved OnyaBirri expresses the thrill of being reunited with a cherished album that has been out of his life for too long, eluding him for decades. Who would attempt to squash my spirit of joie de vivre? My dysfunctional, virtual family of dour film score obsessives, apparently. How was your day? I missed you. Who knew that "Space: 1999" had been reissued on heavy vinyl, with the original cover art, AND selling for only US $10.99? AND without a requisite membership fee? Not I. So I bring it home, uncork a bottle of wine, spin the LP, groove to the two funky tracks that have been airbrushed from the history - to say nothing of the between-track outer space segues - and because I enjoy this experience more than I would listening to a stuffy, pricey box set that is available only with an exclusive membership, my elation is dismissed as "sour grapes." Maybe that poster was expressing concern that my bottle of wine had turned. (It had not; it was a full-bodied, if slightly subtle, cabernet.) All I can say is, I'm happy, and to coin a phrase, I would never belong to a club that would have me as a member. To Simon and Stephen: I appreciate your contributions to the board in general and to this thread specifically, but, respectfully, you have not told me anything I didn't already know about those two tracks. And the fact is, those details are not important to me. Those tracks were part of the album and remain an integral part of my Space: 1999 experience, just like the Topps bubble gum cards. Years ago, when I found one of the two tracks on one of the "Easy Project" CDs, the first thing I did was add it to the Silva Space: 1999 album via CD-R. Well, the LP I was playing just ended, and it's time to uncork a bottle of wine. Last night's Space: 1999 experience was so perfect, I may repeat it again tonight.

I didn't know, but it's less unusual than one might think. With the revival of vinyl, quite a lot of old LPs have been reissued; not all on 180 or 200+ gram vinyl, but with the original cover art/etc. I saw the Fritz the Cat soundtrack in a local shop a while back, along with quite a few others.

My guess is that they were probably confused by the thread title. I thought that you and Last Child were the 'aggressive' to Schweiger's 'passive'. I now stand corrected.

I just scored - for US $10.99 - a reissue of the 1970s RCA LP of "Space 1999,"reproducing the original cover AND 70s RCA orange label, but pressed on HEAVY vinyl (as opposed to Dynaflex) AND including the two funky numbers left off of the Silva CD (and, presumably, yours). So go ahead and charge your membership fee, Fanderson. I will not join. I am now going to uncork a bottle of wine and watch the tone arm lower onto my LP, with that beautiful 70s orange RCA label spinning around, and crank up my SPACE 1999 LP! Shatners famous ' GET A LIFE! ' quote comes to mind when reading this.

Well, I'm pleased for Onya that he was able to re-live the excitement that comes with buying a piece of vinyl containing some music you've always liked (regardless of whether it's authentic to the series in question). We should all savour such moments of 'childlike' wonder. It would probably have been better had he left off the reference to Fanderson I guess. But there is something about vinyl - and sometimes the sound quality can be quite something (though I still prefer a CD these days...)

I dunno....he seems to have omitted taking a candlelit bath along with the wine and music. Well, he just didn't want to share that bit with us. Thank God for that, eh?

Obviously OnyaBirrii is merely having a little fun here, but I'm afraid the LP is pretty poor as we all know. I only have the original 2x disc-er from Fanderson, and that will do for me. But it's waaaay ahead of the old record. And if I didn't already have that I'd be getting the all-new singing and dancing version. These releases are a labour of love and it shows in spades, compared to a half-assed attempt at commercialism in the 70s. And how much have many of us spent on the Star Trek tMP soundtrack? I got that too on vinyl on release, then again on the first expanded cd, and then again with the last three disc set. All depends on how much you want the music. I saw the RCA record in Canada in '73, was over the moon, and bought TWO copies, one for my uncle. Great at the time, but....
