TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN---Denzel Washington will star in the remake of the classic 1960 John Sturges Western. Washington will reunite with director Antoine Fuqua for their third movie (THE EQUALIZER, TRAINING DAY). Tom Cruise left the remake due to schedule problems. The original movie starred Yul Bryner, Steve McQueen, James Coburn and Charles Bronson.





MINORITY REPORT---Fox/Steven Spielberg pilot underway which will be a series sequel to Spielberg's 2002 movie that starred Tom Cruise. The pilot is set ten years after the movie in which a Precog joins up with a troubled female police detective in order to seek a normal life.





TOP GUN 2---Justin Marks (THE JUNGLE BOOK) is in negotiations to write the sequel script with Tom Cruise attached to return.





THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE---Alexa Davalos (CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, CLASH OF THE TITANS) will play the female lead in the Amazon pilot based on the Philip K. Dick novel in which the Axis powers won World War II after President Franklin Roosevelt was assassinated in 1933. Davalos is the granddaughter of actor Richard Davalos (EAST OF EDEN, KELLY'S HEROES). The pilot co-producers are Ridley Scott and Frank Spotnitz. The script was written by Spotnitz. The project was originally intended to be a Syfy miniseries.





HBO---writer James Ellroy (LA CONFIDENTIAL) and director David Fincher (ZODIAC, THE SOCIAL NETWORK) are working on a crime noir series set in 1950s Los Angeles. No other details were announced.

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES---a rumor claims Warner Bros. is considering a movie based on the DC Comics super heroes.

HIGH MOON---Syfy 90-minute tv movie based on the sci fi novel THE LOTUS CAVES. The tv movie is a rejected series pilot produced by Bryan Fuller (HANNIBAL, PUSHING DAISIES) and was written by Jim Danger Gray (TORCHWOOD, HANNIBAL). It will air in September.

GHOSTBUSTERS---Bill Murray endorsed the idea of an all-female reboot of the Ghostbusters franchise, "I'm fine with it, I would go to that movie, and they'd probably have better outfits, too." His suggestions for the cast were, "Melissa (McCarthy) would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny - God, she's funny! I like this girl Linda Cardellini ("Mad Men") a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there."

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.---Hayley Atwell will guest star as Peggy Carter on the Season 2 premiere.

MANHUNT---NBC ten-episode anthology series in which a city is in a state of fear as it seeks to track a deadly criminal. Each season will involve a different city from around the world.

MAD DOGS---Amazon/Sony Pictures series in which four ex-fraternity brothers travel to Belize for a reunion with a wealthy former classmate and encounter murder and a deadly gang lord. Steve Zahn, Ben Chaplin and Romany Malco star.
