Hopefully this edition won't have all the dialogue and effects that rendered the LP reissue from Fuji Cinema unlistenable to me. So far all the releases I've gotten from Shochiku Records have been very good, but the same was true for Fuji Cinema until I picked up their release of this score...
Masaru Satoh's Sound track CD "DER KAISER IST NICHT AM AUGUST" will be released from SHOCHIKU RECORDS on Oct.22, 2014.
Thanks! My excitement over this release has overridden my vexation of the 15 minutes I spent trying to track down this one, since I’m unfamiliar with this film (but want to see now). To quote Colonel Sandurz: “You're really a Spaceball. You know that, don't you?”.
I also noticed that some of these Shochiku Records releases have been tied to the "Best of Classic Shochiku" Blu-ray releases that have been coming out, so I'll be curious to see if Satoh's score for The Yellow Handkerchief or Shunsuke Kikuchi's Goke, Bodysnatcher from Hell might also be getting soundtrack releases.
Being German, I couldn't resist pointing out that this German title indeed makes no sense, translating as: "The Emperor isn't at the August". Googling didn't help either so I'm a little curious who came up with this title and what it's actually supposed to mean.

Then out of curiosity, as I neither speak nor read German or Japanese, what would the German translation of the title, assuming the English translation (August Sees An Armed Uprising With The Emperor's Absence) is correct?

If "August" is meant to be the month, then in German, this would be like (trying to stay close to the original subject title):
"Im August gibt es einen bewaffneten Aufstand, weil der Kaiser nicht da ist"
The Japanese title of the film is Kôtei no inai hachigatsu, which I think could be translated to "August without the Emperor." I don't see anything in the title about an armed uprising.
Personally, I'm much more interested in Satoh's score than the title of the film. Finally having this without dialog and effects, I think it might turn out to be one of my favorite scores by him.
I have, and it's great. After this new release I now consider it one of my favorite Satoh scores. I was also happy to see that they included an alternate cover featuring that fantastic poster.
Also, my prediction from earlier appears to have been pretty good, since Satoh's score for The Yellow Handkerchief will be coming out later this month.
