Hey Henry:

What is your opinion of Conti's "A Prayer for Dying"? I'm tempted to get it but I am so over loaded with CD's that I barely have time to listen to all of them.

It's a very melodic and moving score, it's pretty easy to get into. If you get it let me know what you think.smile

I'm going to try to get into Silvestri, give me 5 exceptional Silvestri scores to start off with. I have "Predator" and "BTTF". Thanks

THE ABYSS, OVERBOARD, BTTF 3, CRITICAL CONDITION/SUMMER RENTAL and ROMANCING THE STONE are all fantastic! ROMANCING THE STONE is very expensive, but you can get the end credits music on the CAST AWAY compilation album which is cheaper. I hope that helps my friend!smile

Hope to see a release of Silvestris fun scores to 1992's SIDEKICKS and 1986's AMERICAN ANTHEM.

VOLCANO could stand a legitimate complete/expanded score release. I believe the full score is around 70 min, which means a good 60% remains unreleased!

In no order, other than Dredd being the tops of this bunch thematically:

Judge Dredd
The Quick And The Dead
The Abyss
The Mummy Returns
Predator 2 - complete

This board is so buggy. Free (for us), but buggy.

Also in no order:

Captain America
Judge Dredd
Volcano
The Mummy Returns
Eraser

You really can't go wrong with any of them! I prefer his orchestral action scores to his more contemporary-synth ones (Red 2).

For anyone who's not heard Silvestri's four albums of "Cosmos" available on iTunes I highly recommend it -- I have enjoyed it more than anything he's done in the past 15 years (and I loved Captain America and Mummy Returns)!

Silvestri is one of my favorite composers. He has some great stuff! My favorites include:

1. Back To The Future 1 & 3 (I would love to get an expanded release of 3. Great western themes integrated with the main theme)
2. The Mummy Returns - Epic and intense. Silvestri at his action scoring best! The End Titles are always on my playlist.
3. The Polar Express - Hoping for an official release this year from one of the labels.
4. Captain America - I love the Avengers theme, but Capt America gets my vote as the better listen. Add the available download of the main theme to the album and it's a winner.
5. Father of the Bride/Grumpy Old Men - These scores sound very similar and even borrow a little bit from each other, but I think they represent Silvestri at his comedic best. Very melodic, warm scoring with a lot of heart. Grumpy Old Men and the sequel need an official release!
6. Cast Away - very little music in this movie but when that theme comes in during the film for the first time, it has such a great emotional impact.
7. Summer Rental/Overboard/Delta Force - Silvestri in 80's mode, but it's hard for me to pick a fave out of the 3. The themes to each are all really good.
