David Rose`s main theme from High Chaparral which I always loved obviously was a theme he composed earlier for the Bonanza episode “Four Sisters from Boston”. I`ve just watched that episode on Youtube and was super surprised.

And "The Christmas Tree" (originally composed for the annual Christmas show on Red Skeleton's series), was heard in a later "Bonanza" Christmas episode.

I absolutely agree. I`ve been watching a lot of Bonanza episodes lately and I think that David Rose wrote some fantastic music for the show. A box set with Bonanza music would be awesome.
Btw, I also love David Rose`s work for Little House on the Prairie.

Anybody else on here who, like I just did, tuned in to hear the theme at 5 minutes or so and ended up watching the entire episode!?
Really enjoyed it too! (Though, the ending WAS a bit twee...)

I`m really into Bonanza at the moment. It`s a great show despite its sometimes cheap look (painted backgrounds and obvious studio settings). It had some very good acting, decent scripts and overall a positive humane message. And like I said earlier, David Rose wrote some beautiful music for that show.
Besides, it`s always fun to watch the early work of some well known actors. I love Leslie Nielson`s portrayal of a disturbed civil war veteran turned sheriff in the episode The Unseen Wound:

It`s a very tragic and serious role. Definetely a bit different from Frank Drebin in Naked Gun.

I`ve hust discovered that amazing Bonanza fanpage with everything you`ll ever need to know about the show. It also has a wealth of information about the music in the section "Bonanza Music" and also about the individual scores in the "Episode Guide". Naturally the later use of the particular theme for “Four Sisters from Boston” as the main theme for "High Chaparral" is also being mentioned. It also identifies all individual themes and motifs for each episode and informs about the orchestra and the scoring stages.

And here`s a wonderful and very emotional cue by David Rose for a scene in the episode "Forever" which btw. was beautifully written and directed by Michael Landon. It`s the scene where he remembers his wife played by Bonnie Bedelia who just had been murdered. It rans from 18:27 till 20:53.
