Some here might note that the article completely overlooked Attenborough's remarkable performance in "The Sand Pebbles" and his Oscar-nominated turn in "Doctor Dolittle".

Attenborough was never Oscar-nominated for his acting. He did win back-to-back Golden Globes for “The Sand Pebbles” and “Doctor Dolittle.” BAFTA nominated him for his performing in 1961’s “The Angry Silence” and 1963’ “The Dock Brief,” aka “Trial and Error,” and won for 1964’s “Seance on a Wet Afternoon” and “Guns at Batasi.”

Right you are, Ralph. I misremembered the Golden Globe award as an Oscar nomination.

What really gets me is that he wasn't nominated for "The Sand Pebbles", but Mako (Makoto Iwamatsu) was. BOTH deserved a nomination.
