We are dealing with the illness of a family member right now and it is keeping me so distracted and stressed. However, I still have to work to pay the damn medical bills so I turn to my music to get me through the day. I have discovered - no great surprise here - that Georges Delerue is getting me through more than any composer at the moment. I listened to - and this is no exaggeration - Joe Versus the Volcano three times today. The Love Theme just takes me to a happier place. A dear friend sent me a copy of American Friends and this was played today as well. I then reached for A Summer Story and Steel Magnolias. I already have my line-up ready for tomorrow. Yes, best wishes to you and your family at this time. My mother died a couple of years ago and I found that listening to my favourite composer John Barry helped me then as well. I think it was the familiarity with his music and melodies that was comforting to me.

I keep going back to "Joe Versus the Volcano" over and over to get me through this situation that continues and I so wish I could tell Mr. Delerue how much I adore this score. I am convinced that this man had a beautiful soul to have produced such lovely music.

I hope my sentiments do not come across as self-pity. Trust me, that is the farthest thing from my mind. On the contrary, they are the feelings that every parent feels when their child is sick - you wish it was you so that you could take the pain away. I am optimistic that things will get better. One of my favorite sayings:
