The Genius contains quite a lot of unreleased music (including a short but superb 'deguello' piece for guitar, trumpet and choir) so it would have been nice with an expanded CD release. Oh well.
The tapes with the recording session of The Genius are lost or destroy, nothing found in the Sugar or composer archives. The album version is the only available source. Sorry.
That's bad news indeed but thanks for letting us know. Anyway, I do hope the masters for My Name is Nobody still exist though because I'd love to have a more complete CD, or why not a 2CD?, of this excellent western score.
MY NAME IS NOBODY has had two expanded reissues with 13 additional tracks: in 2000 on Screen Trax (CDST 330) and in 2004 on GDM (0159042). Both include the film versions of the score, and Screen Archives has the GDM edition for $19.95:
After all those years I've nearly forgotten how infectious SONNY & JED is. Listening to the samples (http://www.quartetrecords.com/un-genio-due-compari-un-pollo.html) I can't wait to put this one into my player! Love it! No one does this playfully beautiful stuff like Morricone.

Yes I know that, but the fact is that none uf the expanded releases that you mention contain the actual film versions of the duel theme, which in my opinion are much better than the unused versions found on the expanded CD. Also, at least three saloon music pieces are missing on that CD and so is the Mexican-flavored music that accompanies the scenes at the fairground. Other missing tracks include a great tension cue (a bit in the vein of the 'Barber' music but which ends with a slow rendition of the intro part to the duel music) which segues into a slightly different version of the Wild bunch theme plus a couple of alternate versions of Nobody's theme heard towards the end of the movie.
I still think the expanded CD is very good, there's no question about that, but I'd have preferred the aforementioned missing cues instead of several of the versions on the CD that weren't used in the movie.
I haven't got either of these scores and just listened to samples and am bowled over. Great stuff. Essential Morricone!!! Many thanks to Quartet. Ordered!!!
