Anyone here who knows if and when John Williams will perform at the Hollywood Bowl in 2015? It's usually in late August/early September, right? When do they normally announce the concerts? I've tried mailing them, but they haven't bothered answering me.
The reason I'm asking is, that I want to book plane tickets and hotels as early as possible.
For several years now, the Williams concert has traditionally been the Friday and Saturday of Labor Day weekend -- unless Labor Day falls late on the calendar, as it does in 2015. So the concerts could either be September 4 and 5 or August 28 and 29. But even that is not guaranteed.

It's LA so there are tons of flights. I waited until just a couple weeks ago to book air fare for the Bowl this year, and there were still a zillion cheap, nonstop flights from DFW. What you do NOT want to do is delay getting seats for the actual concert, which usually go on sale first week of May. The good seats go quickly, but cheap flights should not be a big deal.
The 2015 schedule is up now and no mention of John Williams. There is a film music concert September 6 with David Newman conducting (just like there was in 2014). Perhaps something will get added later but so far, no Johnny.
Edit: Also worth noting that the last weekend in August will be shows by Diana Krall. This has been the weekend of John Williams's concerts for the last three years. So it's starting to look like it may not happen this time around.
Sorry to hear (on behalf of all my LA friends) that he won't be appearing at the Bowl this year, but excited to hear a new Williams work to be performed by the BSO. I didn't know anything about that. Let's hope more details will roll in soon.

BTW "the film music" event that is "repeated" from last year is THE BIG PICTURE that has been going on at the Bowl some 25 years now.
Bless your heart, Morricone. I began to fear for John's health and life. My annual trips from Philadelphia to Los Angeles would not be as special or magical without seeing him at The Bowl every Summer.

Concerts of Mr Williams this weekend in San Diego have been cancelled due to a "temporary minor health issue".
No worries, at 83, Mr Williams must preserve his forces and health first.
He'll then have plenty of time to work on the score of the new "cold war thriller" from Steven Spielberg and then Star Wars.

Morricone's correct. And, as has often been the case in previous years, the John Williams concerts are the Friday and Saturday prior to THE BIG PICTURE concert, which is usually the Sunday of the same weekend.
If the schedule is the same this year, that means the Williams concerts will be September 4 & 5.
