I know it wasn't a very serious question but I would offer that Towering Inferno and Poseidon Adventure are both centered around splashy social events where a singer and a song could be inserted organically. Where would you put a song in Swarm? That county fair?

Yes, abruptly inserting a song into the movie would have ruined it's verisimilitude completely! Thankfully, we were left with a masterpiece of realism.

!

Yeah, I know. But Irwin didn't set out to make a terrible movie. (I have to believe that.) Given his previous success with love songs in his disasters, I'd be shocked if the idea wasn't at least floated.

Speaking of which, I'd love a detailed account of how this picture was conceived and executed. Did Warner Bros. just rubber stamp Irwin's judgment after Inferno?

Or Buzz-bee Burkley, perhaps?

Johnny Carson Oscar quip i remember: "Irwin Allen made a movie about bees and Woody Allen made a movie about WASPS." (Interiors).

These are priceless:

Lukas

Someone strung most of these together into a single YT clip:

The most preposterous closing lines of any film ever. Made worse by the fact that the actors obviously have no conviction in the material (why should they?)

Interesting that it starts with "Released By Warner Bros." as opposed to "Warner Bros. A Warner Communications Company Presents" - released like a criminal maniac is released?
