Quote: I asked Ford if we should do Blow Out about a year and a half ago - his answer was no, why bother. That was good enough for me ----------- I missed out on the original CD release of Blow Out and will be it picking up soon. Thanks for this one, Intrada!!!

I am sorry to take this off of the topic, but I am a little upset now and reading what haineshisway posted about my post was the last straw. "We" do not have to like everything that is released and we have the right to say it, but if anything is said about any certain label, "we" get in trouble for it and are called "trolls". I was told by the moderator here, that I have to avoid certain posters here and they were told the same thing. Was I not the first one to post in this thread? If anyone was not smart enough to figure out who "we" are in my posts, you are an idiot. I have been posting the thoughts of my father (and mine) for most of a year now. With his failing health and the over bearing record label producers on here, he no longer wanted to post anything. My father was the one that shared his love for scores with his wife and children. Mom passed away a few years ago and my brother has gone his own way, which left me to help my father with life. I am engaged to a man who was willing to put our wedding on hold while I take care of my father. Well, yesterday we were given the news that my father was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer! Are you speechless now haineshisway? This site was a wonderful place to find out news about new releases and it has turned so one sided I see why my father left. Right now, I am done with this site, I have to take care of my father and that is my number one priority! Are you happy now haineshisway?

Well anyway, this is a pretty good soundtrack of music.

According to Soundtrack Collector, a 44-minute LP appeared in Japan on the Polydor label at the time of the film's release there. It's a re-recording. Kinda pop-influenced. I only discovered this last night and I would love it on CD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu3F_4tEFd8 Interesting. Any idea who was involved in creating it? It's IMHO god awful... It's a pop re-recording that just didn't work for me. I think they used a portion of it ripped from an LP in DEATHPROOF. Ford A. Thaxton

LIFE IS HARD, we ALL have issues and family problems in lives and you are far from the only one who has to deal with them, that is what adults do. I'm sorry that your father is having health issues (I really am), but why bring that up in the first place? Just to make us feel sorry for you? NO SALE from my viewpoint. I'm sorry, but this has NOTHING to do with the discussion at hand. There is an old saying that you might well remember, "If you can't stand the heat, GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN". Ford A. Thaxton

The personal stuff had NOTHING TO DO WIT THIS DISCUSSION AT ALL. All the rest of us have as SERIOUS if not more so issues going in our lives, but we don't use it to make others pity us in the course of discussion. So can we return to the discussion of BLOW OUT please? Ford A. Thaxton

Of all the soundtracks to start a flame war--including Kimmel and Thaxton, no less!--I didn't think it would be this one. I feel strongly that if we could sit everyone in a darkened room, then put on Criterion's blu-ray of BLOW OUT, we would all soon reach an affirmative consensus on the worthiness of this release.

A truly awful thread due to contributions from people who should know better. Regardless of whether Kim Tong was correct or not in raising the issue of her Father here, the attitude of a few towards her was pretty appalling. As I've said I'm looking forward to receiving this CD but the negativity here is dispiriting.

Amazed that her trying to pull our emotional strings isn't "Appealling" But that's just me... Can we go back to BLOW OUT now? Ford A. Thaxton

Right now, I am done with this site, I have to take care of my father and that is my number one priority! Are you happy now haineshisway? Well, if the news about your father is true, then of course I'm sure everyone here sends well wishes to him for a hopeful recovery. But given your long history here and the obviousness of the attempt you're making, well... And are you really sitting here posting that this is supposed to make me feel guilty for responding to your post? Because it doesn't. Am I speechless? Not because of your news, no. Am I happy your father is ill, if he is ill. I don't know you or him but I would never be happy about someone's illness, but you knew that and your point in doing this post is obvious to anyone who a) knows your long history knocking Kritzerland and b) who has a brain. So, you think it's okay to post this: "There has to be some new scores out there that are needing released. Kritzerland, Music Box and MMM release scores so old or bizarre we stay clear, because we have never heard of the movie or the composer" but it's not okay for someone to call you on it. You ARE a troll as far as Kritzerland and you included the other two labels with us for obvious reasons, so you could say, "See, it's not just Kritzerland." But it is. And really, you've never heard of the composer? Herrmann, Goldsmith, Bernstein, Rozsa, Friedhofer, Zimmer, Grusin, Duning, Previn, Tiomkin, Hefti, Kaper and on and on - really? Hmmmm. And we'll see if you are "through with this board."

This is why I rarely come to FSM any more. Here we are, living in the most abundant times for soundtrack releasing ever and people still whine like spoiled brats. So, Intrada owes it to you to only release the CDs *you* want to buy? Come on. (That's me speaking to to one in particular.) Does anybody remember what it was like twenty years ago? Yep. For the most part, it was a case of irregular releases. Much slower than now. Your holy grails seemed unattainable. CD reissues of old film scores, when they came out at all, were mostly straight reissues of LP programs. Expansion was a rarity. Completeness was almost unheard of. The music was hardly ever remastered, so often did not sound great. And for the most part, no booklets, just a cheap two-fold card with poorly reproduced artwork and maybe an uninformative paragraph or two. Some people just don't know how well off they are. So "Blow Out" doesn't tickle your fancy? So don't buy it. Save your money. There'll be something else coming out very soon. But don't whine and moan like this is all about you.
