http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K268SME/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AQ6LRWOU799EN

A DVD is also available

I've just ordered both.

Yes, this was posted before twice - but the search engine doesn't find these topics anymore. There were a few words from the producer of this project which appeared suddenly out of the dark - in my opinion one of the best releases of the last years and a welcome release for a very underrepresented composer and brillant jazz musician (still waiting for releases of his jazz works or his incredible soundtrack compilations for the japanese label Rainbow). I've tried to start a discussion about this release, but it seemed that nobody was interested in this...by the way, the Phantom Theme sounds very familiar to a part of the "Dune"-Theme by Toto in my eyes...to enjoy the complete score, try to get the DVD release - it's worth every penny not only for the score but also for the quality of the film print they used...

Too bad this isn't a month earlier when I am going to be in London... frown

But if the trailer is any indication I MUST get the CD asap!

The CD of Roy Budd's magnificent score to THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA has arrived stateside. It is a side of Roy Budd I never heard before. Totally BRILLIANT ! Totally MELODIC ! Glad I didn't wait for it to appear at a distributor here in the U.S. Thanks for the heads up, Preston Neal Jones. It will surely get many spins.

I was totally unaware of this Roy Budd score until a few weeks ago. When I went to order from Amazon UK is was out of stock with no known restock date. I was afraid my procrastination had left me out. Just checked this evening and it's back and my order was accepted! I eagerly await a new treasure.

You're very welcome, Cody. Mine just arrived a few hours ago and I'm very much looking forward to listening to it. (And I'll keep waiting patiently for a DVD -- dare we hope, a BluRay? -- that can be viewed on my American equipment.)

Got mine a few days ago and I'm listening to it non stop. Stunning score!! Just gorgeous!!

I wasn't aware of this Roy Budd side either. Highly recomend it to anyone who likes grand/melodic/gothic/symphonic works.

I can back up the words of praise from others, but have to say that my favourite tracks add a bit of grand guignol to the melodrama - the torture chamber, the monumental end track for instance.

Fine work. Such a shame he never got the chance to take on other large scale projects on the back of this.

The score is simply BUDDiful !!!! I got my copy on Amazon UK. Well worth the money.

Hey Martyn, Might you have your FULL Jerry Fielding interview that was abbreviated in RTS years

ago. I am now working alone on a JF tribute (began by the late David Fuller). I would love to

read the long version.

Best wishes!!!!

Steve

Cody my friend, you ought to check out Budd's scores for SINBAD AND THE EYE OF THE TIGER and FIELD OF HONOR. Simply fantastic, inventive and extremely detailed orchestral writing in both of those, even though the latter is marred by some of the worst sound quality I've ever heard out of an orchestral recording in made in London...

... But yea, oh man, THIS score! What a beauty. I pull it up pretty frequently, and have for the better part of the past year I've owned it. Maestro Budd was truly taken too soon from this earth.

Am I crazy or is that catchy action motif informing the first few mins. of "On the Roof of the Opera" shockingly similar to an action motif heard in Alan Silvestri's JUDGE DREDD...?

Roy Budd had exceptional talent, his scores to films were underrated, b-movies, Roy gave them a Wow factor. Sadly Missed.

Hi Preston Neal Jones, I'll speak to Sylvia/ Mishka and see what can be put together so you can see it in the US?

Here's the trailer we have just put together for the live premiere of this work - small taster of what you can hopefully see sometime soon! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EMX_zY12TQ
