Infectious themes abound – the main title being one for the ages! All these years later, the IN-LAWS still holds up as one of the great American comedies – and now finally, Morris’ wonderful score gets its due! Produced by Matt Verboys and Neil S. Looking forward to Thunderbirds - the music was the best part of both films. A pity there wasn't more music (it's been a long time since I've seen either but I assume there was more in the first film than is on the CD?) and I assume it's been dependent on how much music survived.

But isn't it great that such effort has been gone to put out a CD of the original tracks nearly 50 years down the line? I'll gratefully take whatever music survives, and my thanks to everyone involved with this CD.

By the way, I think that's fantastic artwork....smile

It's strange that there haven't been more replies to this announcement.

Barry Gray's music for Thunderbirds is some of the greatest T.V./Film music ever written, the man was a genius.

I agree about the artwork, that is some of the best artwork ever to grace a soundtrack album.

Ford, please could you give us fans here some more information as to how the music was assembled etc, just to keep us going until we actually get those precious discs into our hands in a week or so?

Any info would be appreciated.

Loving the Thunderbirds samples. Sounds like Space 1999 (obviously) but only better!

Note: X-files fight the Future graphic shows up twice and goes to Wild is the Wind. There's no Wild is the Wind graphic.

Finally ... the Columbia LP of Tiomkin's WILD IS THE WIND ...

... arrives onto CD along with the original tracks.

This should be one of the highlights for 2014, I think, in Bob DiMucci's annual LP-to-CD threads around December. smile

La-La Land is the current Champion (pun) of Dimitri Tiomkin's music.

I never remember which one is which when I see the titles Wild is the Wind, Written on the Wind and Inherit the Wind.
All the "Wind" titles confuse me, apart from Gone With the Wind.

It so inside BASEBALL kind of stuff.

The album was assembled by the guys from the tapes they had from Barry's estate, they delivered a master, we reviewed and Mark Banning put the artwork together, Jeff Bond didn't the notes and you have a CD.

That's about it.

"It's not that hard to believe, I'm afraid." (Pursuit)

You have to remember that Thunderbirds isn't as massive today as it was in the '60s or indeed the '90s, not to mention that Barry Gray never established a name for himself outside of the Gerry Anderson universe (remember, he retired from film and TV scoring after getting kicked off Space: 1999 - whereas the likes of Derek Meddings and Steven Begg went on to other successful projects). Plus the gap in American name recognition between International Rescue and Doctor Who (for instance) is pretty big... and we're dealing with two movies that were box office flops in their day and even nowadays aren't as beloved as their source.

All that said, I'll still get this. smile

"Wild is the wind" doesn't mean anything never having seen the film to me but it's Tiomkin so I will definitely give the sound samples a go.

"Thunderbirdsa are go" and "Thunderbird 6" however Oh man do they ever ring a thundering bell. I can't believe that this soundtrack just appears out of nowhere. Where have you been hiding these beauties Lala? Under the pool? Under the house? Or behind the rockface blocked by palm trees?
What it lacks in love from others, I'll make up for it. I love Thunderbirds, and love Barry Gray's music for the Anderson puppet series. Even with their weak elements, some things on this planet are an absolute force for good, nothing but positive, healthy and a beautiful thing in life; "Superman the movie", the 1966 "Batman" tv series, "The man from U.N.C.L.E."AND "Thunderbirds". One of the vital elements for it's goodness? Barry Gray's music. It's an essential part; the invisible actor and the melodic sound effect.
F.A.B.solutely ordered!!

D.S.

However it came about and whoever was responsible for assembling the Master Tape, you have my thanks, this is my release of 2014.
