hurry up and make a decision, man! its nearly dark! Thought briefly it might be that due to wardrobe similarities - but have discounted that one. so havent gota clue at the mo.
all we know is.. he was a Sheriff! which narrows it down ...a bit. ive got a shortlist of 4 but the outfit doesnt fit any of them; so im stymied.
I don't know which western this is, I'm sorry. But I'd like to ask RichardW if the world portrayed in it is really more accurate than the one in say Once Upon a Time in the West or The Il Grande Silenzio.
now look Tg, you have been warned, you know perfectly well that italian westerns dont count and have no place on a randolph scott quiz. Our leader of the great ego has spoken and i wont have his decision questioned!!

Well we all know that in a spaghetti western John Wayne would shoot Randolph Scott in the back, & if it was directed by Sergio Leone he'd take 20 minutes to do it, but with some nice music in the background
dont cinemascope, you will just make things worse!
anyway back to the Sheriff.
wheres mgh and angelillo? we need help!
Thanks, Bill. I am basing my guess because of his hat. I think it is one that Chickenhearted posted not too long ago, although Scott never wore a badge in that film. If I'm not right, I hope I get seven more guesses. starting now.
By the way, I agree with you; spaghetti westerns seem out of place in this thread; they were anti-westerns. Not to say they weren't good, and sometimes great, films; they just weren't westerns.
With the marshal/sheriff's badge he wore on his vest and that mid-fifties look on him, there's a good chance that this picture was taken from the 1955 film with Angela Lansbury in it.

I'm clearly a novice at this. Am I right in thinking that all frontier towns insisted on their sheriffs wearing clean, pressed clothers in primary colours? No wonder so many of them got shot...

yeah but when you are Randolph scott, ...sorry.. "..RANDOLPH S-C-O-T-T-T-T...!!" you can draw much faster than all the other actors in the film, even when the guys in black hats fire first, they always take a splinter out of the post near your head so that you can swivel, dive to the ground and shoot them as you are rolling in the dust.
