This is my favorite Georges Delerue score, and at 79 minutes - it's certainly his biggest score! Bigger than a Revolution?

Anne of the Thousand Days paired with A Man For all Seasons would surely be a good seller. I generally prefer his "historical" style (like the upcoming French Revolution) to his modern day-themed works. Still, I've ordered the new Intrada. Anne of the Thousand Days.....Universal A Man For All Seasons.....Columbia/Sony Difficult pairing to say the least.

Got my copy! I frequently purchase Delerue' scores, picking up the best for my tastes. But this one, after listening to the samples, seems to me too much conventional and rather weak. But since there is a lot of tracks (more than 37' for a Delerue CD is incredible !), some other cues are maybe deeper or more original. Is there more tormented or less common tracks ? So Maleficio (and the others), what could you say to convince me it is an excellement score ? (apart from the circus music). I am ready to be convinced, but I didn't like samples from L'éducation sentimentale and didn't buy the CD for that reason. I liked very much The conformist, Partners, House of Carrol street, American friends and less Man, woman and child.

Simply watch the movie it was written for and - hopefully - you will appreciate one of the most efficient, subtle and romantic score from Georges Delerue in the eighties. Unless, the saccharine kills whatever delicate touches Delerue tried to give the wretched (IMHO) film.

I must object: this score is a pure delightful pleasure, tender and restraintful, still sweet and light-hearted. I haven´t seen the movie in decades - but I will give it another try, just because I love this score so much. Imagine this film being scored today: some overly obvious score bits, pushed aside by a collection of pop tunes...

Oh, darn. This score had prominent CIMBALOM? This one only just barely missed out from being on my order. I guess I should've prioritized it higher! Like you, I'm a sucker for anything cimbalom, especially if it's used more melodically (ie. Rozsa's The Power). Yavar
