Treat for Georges Delerue fans! World premiere release of beautiful (and generously-lengthed) Delerue soundtrack from Bruce Beresford film starring Tom Selleck, Paulina Porizkova, James Farentino. Selleck writes novels about ladykiller detective, searches for inspiration and becomes involved with lovely Porizkova, who just may be a real killer. Flavorful concoction of mystery, suspense, comedy offers Delerue smashing platform for beautiful melodies, mysterious strains, dramatic gestures... all wrapped up in signature manner. With all style of material at his command, it is the beautiful love them that Delerue anchors the score with. And in this regard, the rich "End Credits" sequence remains one of Delerue's choicest of the 1980's. Intrada presents the complete score, including music deleted from the picture, plus composer's own original source music, all from four rolls of original stereo session mixes vaulted in pristine condition by Warner Bros. CD offers full orchestral score first, then three brief transitional cues followed by original "circus style" source music Delerue scored for final Funeral Of Grimaldi sequence featuring numerous clowns. These Delerue taste treat "extras" play as album by themselves, showcasing composer's flair for tuneful writing be it for calliope, brass band, accordion, circus organ or even solo tuba. Positively delightful music! Liner notes by Tim Greiving plus stylish booklet graphics by Joe Sikoryak wrap entire package in nifty fashion! Georges Delerue conducts. Intrada Special Collection CD available while quantities and interest remain!

YAY!

James

Whenever this movie came on HBO in the 90s, I'd always watch the first couple minutes just to hear that incredible music. (Damned if I know how the film plays out.)

Very nice surprise.

Yay! I am actually in the minority and not a huge Delerue fan but have always loved this one. Maybe this will spur more Delerue!

It's something to do with the Paulina Porizkova character being a gymnast, or whatever (apparently she and Tom Selleck didn't get along during filming). Anyway, nice release.

I`m not really a big Delerue fan but HER ALIBI is a very charming score. And the film is very entertaining as well. The cue ENTER NINA is soooo lovely. Instantly ordered.

This is my favorite Georges Delerue score, and at 79 minutes - it's certainly his biggest score!

WOW! Yes; finally!

It has certainly been worth the wait!

THANK YOU INTRADA!

I´ll pass on this one. There´s so much sugar in this music that it becomes sticky. I can live with the Suite on Varese´Delerue compilation. The next Delerue upgrade will be "The French Revolution" in September. See you there.

Dennis, I wasn't replying to what you said, just speaking in general. Sorry if it came out as a criticism of your comments.
