But I have to say that the moron to GOTG fan ratio is rabidly, preposterously, bizarrely high and apparently all of you are seeing and hearing things that never happened.

And in walks you, who is rabidly, preposterously bizarrely angry about the film in the first place.

(And this is coming from a guy who played at that schtick for a decade!)

I don't understand why people can't argue the value or non-value of a movie without boiling it down to morons vs. non-morons. I really don't.

The NY Post is not much of a paper for the most part. But I think that this review has pretty valid points, especially about the constant comedic diffusion and wisecracks against the non-built up tension and non-built up drama. It is more a space satire of it's own genre than anything else, always winking at the audience at how clever it, they are, to make fun of the genre that they are using and standing on top of.

Part of it
"Instead, we’re actually supposed to get pumped up by the chaotic action, the dazzlingly detailed special effects and the mortal combat with blue-faced villains with bits of circuit board or seaweed stuck to their faces. The comedy is meant to deflate tension that isn’t there in the first place. Writer-director James Gunn keeps pulling the rug out without first bothering to trick anyone into standing on it."

I appreciate what David Sones said. If people liked or loved the movie, that's fine. If they didn't, that doesn't bother me either.

Mr. Greg wrote, “I liked it.” Good, and he didn’t have to justify his opinion.

Now that I’ve seen it, I hope the sequel won’t lose sight of the saying, “Less is more.”
I enjoyed the first Transformers because it had some humor and a bit of heart. The sequels
were horrid and boring just featuring continuous rambling robot fights. (IMHO) I loved the first Pirates of the Caribbean, but then the sequels promoted “More Is More,” and became blind to the charms of the original movie.

Like Mr. Greg, I “liked” GOTG. I didn’t love it. I liked it as a fun popcorn movie. It had some charm, humor and heart. What I didn’t care for were the overly long CGI fighting effects. For me they were just too long. I wanted to return to the main characters and plot a little more often.

I was horrified by the fact a bunch of 80’s rock songs were going to be included in a science fiction movie. However, the heart-felt reason for these songs gave credibility to their usage, and I loved hearing those songs in this movie. Nice to have some justification for songs.

Let’s hope the sequel remembers that “less is more” and gives us more companionship and insight into the Guardians.
