THURSDAY, JULY 31

INTERSTELLAR---new trailer released for the Christopher Nolan movie starring Matthew McConaughey, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, Casey Affleck and Topher Grace. Premiere is November 7.

DOCTOR WHO---photos released for Season 8's premiere episode "Deep Breath" which was described as, "The Doctor has regenerated and now Clara has to deal with the fact that her best friend appears to have changed completely… Meanwhile the newly regenerated Time Lord must face a terrifying monster as the Twelfth Doctor’s era begins in dramatic style!" Premiere is August 23.







THE MUMMY---Alex Kurtzman is in negotiations to direct the reboot movie for Universal Pictures. The reboot movie "is set in the present and is not a horror play but rather an action-adventure tentpole with horror elements. It will also feature new characters and not rehash previous incarnations."





INTO THE WOODS---new photo from the movie which intertwines the Brothers Grimm fairy tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel in which a childless baker and his wife are cursed by a witch. Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine and Tracey Ullman star.





ROCK THE KASBAH---Zooey Deschanel released this photo from the set of the comedy movie starring Deschanel, Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Danny McBride and Scott Caan. The plot involves a washed-up rock manager on a USO tour in Afghanistan who discovers a young girl with load of talent. He enters her on AFGHAN STAR, which is the local version of AMERICAN IDOL.





THE HATEFUL EIGHT---poster released for the Quentin Tarantino Western.





A STORM IN THE STARS---movie underway about the love affair between poet Percy Shelley and 17-year-old Mary Wollstonecraft. One year after their wedding, Mary Shelley wrote FRANKENSTEIN; OR, THE OTHER PROMETHEUS. Elle Fanning (MALEFICENT) stars.

CON AIR 2---director Simon West commented on if he would return for a rumored sequel of the movie that starred Nicolas Cage and John Malkovich, "There are always rumors about a CON AIR 2. I would do it if it was completely turned on its head. CON AIR in space, for example - a studio version where they're all robots or the convicts are reanimated as super-convicts, or where the good guys are bad guys and the bad guys are good guys. Something shocking. If it was clever writing it could work."

VANESSA DEL RIO---untitled biomovie underway starring Zulay Henao as waitress Ana Maria Sanchez who became the first Latin-decent porn superstar Vanessa del Rio.

MEADOWLAND---Olivia Wilde, Luke Wilson and Natasha Lyonne star in this movie about a New York cop and his wife who must deal with their son's disappearance.

RESIDENT ADVISORS---new sitcom starring Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, Ryan Hansen and Jamie Chung in which college dorm resident advisors have to deal with sex, drugs and academics.

MIKE TYSON---Jamie Foxx stars in this untitled biomovie.

DOWN A DARK HALL---Lionsgate horror movie underway based on the novel about a teenage girl in an exclusive boarding school whose headmistress has supernatural powers.

A BIGGER SPLASH---remake of the 1969 movie LA PISCINE which starred Alain Delon, Romy Schneider and Jane Birkin in which a young woman gets involved in a love triangle with a vacationing couple. The remake stars Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson.

I'd like to see The Mummy done as a stylish period gothic horror, but it doesn't look like that will happen. Nice to see the old fashioned CinemaScope logo on the Hateful Eight poster.

I'd like to see The Mummy done as a stylish period gothic horror, but it doesn't look like that will happen. Nice to see the old fashioned CinemaScope logo on the Hateful Eight poster.

We got that, twice. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a proper third installment, but I'm happy with the two films. I refuse to count the third one as a Mummy film. lol

Na, they're kind of sub Indiana Jones movies, I don't think I could sit through them again (Oooo, I hate mummy's).

...now a good idea is to have The Mummy as a dark horror film...with gothic overtones.

The background music is definitely Sondheim from the show. Can't wait for a fuller preview.
