I've been using my old AOL account as my spam email address for well over a decade now, and finally today their site seems to be down, Expired Registration. Is this a boo-boo or did AOL finally decide to slink away and quietly disappear?

Just checked aol.com and my AOL email account. All seems fine to me.

I've had AOL since the days when they had their own browser. My master email account I use everyday is just fine. I have hundreds of thousands of saved emails in my account. A few weeks ago they seemed to be down for half a day. But service is usually not a problem.

However I can tell you I also have some "spam" email accounts, and when I went back to them after a year of neglect all my old saved emails were whipped clean and AOL treated that account as new. It worked but all old email was whipped clean by them and after I signed in I got a "Welcome to AOL mail" notice. So I would say they have begun the practice of wiping content from inactive AOL accounts.
