"The In-Laws" is one of my favorite movies, and it's still one of the funniest I've ever seen. I love John Morris's theme. So what a nice surprise to see this La-La-Land post on Facebook:

The In Laws is one of the best comedies ever... full of classic lines and zany - yes, I did say zany - performances. I first saw this during my high school graduation beach vacation, which kinda tells you it wasn't a real party animal vacation. We howled with laughter and I've loved the movie and score ever since.
Morris' quirky score perfectly carries this madhouse movie...and bless you LaLa Land for making this a reality... I could just....
Finally got my grubby little hands on this one, and what a delightful score it is! For some reason (maybe having to do with something Elmer Bernstein once said about one score), it's sometimes considered gospel around these parts that good comedy scores should always play it straight. I think that's silly, and here's a score that's fun and funny and always plays light.
I fear that this classic score may suffer from the comedy curse, where comedy scores sell poorly. I sure hope not.
I played this quite a bit when it first came out, and was delighted by it. I just put on a bit of it now, and the delight remains. Any Morris is just swell by me, and this album and "Bank Shot" are wonderful companions, I think. They both have that sort of sly caper aesthetic in bits and pieces.
Also love the Wagner Wedding March quote put at the theme's tail end, it seems so inevitable and natural, and yet it still gets a laugh.
Anyway, get it if you haven't picked it up yet - it's a very satisfying album, there are terrific melodies, and it's all arranged with Morris's usual skill and wit.
