WEDNESDAY, JULY 23
THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES---new photo released for the movie which premiers on December 17.
WESTWORLD---Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood star in the HBO/JJ Abrams series pilot based on the 1973 Michael Crichton sci fi movie that starred Yul Bryner and Richard Benjamin. Hopkins will play Dr. Robert Ford, "the brilliant, taciturn and complicated Creative Director, Chief Programmer and Chairman of the Board of Westworld; Ford has an uncompromising creative vision for the park-and unorthodox methods of achieving it."
Wood will play the Dolores Abernathy, a "provincial, beautiful and kind...quintessential farm girl of the frontier West-who is about to discover that her entire idyllic existence is an elaborately constructed lie."
TREMORS---Universal Pictures reboot underway of the 1990 monster movie that starred Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward. The director is Don Michael Paul (LAKE PLACID: THE FINAL CHAPTER) whose movies are usually direct-to-dvd/VOD releases.
GOOSEBUMPS---photo from the movie based on the RL Stine books. Jack Black plays Stine who must save a town from his monsters after they escape from his books.
BROOKLYN FAMILY ROBINSON---Steve Carell stars in this Walt Disney comedy movie in which a father moves his family from Brooklyn to a remote tropical island.
MANIMAL---Sony Pictures Animation live-action/CGI movie underway based on the 1983 NBC sci fi series that starred Simon MacCorkindale as a man who morphs into animals to fight crime. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are the producers.
NCIS---Pauley Perette released a photo of herself in the hospital after her latest reaction to black hair dye, "The other half of my face had become twice the size of my head... was in ER. Just got home from hospital. My head swelled like a melon. It can be fatal. People have died. For real." Perette, who is a natural blonde, has been dying her black for 20 years.
THE FLASH---Plastique will be appearing on the series. She is described as "a fetching young redhead who was a bomb specialist with the Army before she was injured by an IED in Iraq. Since being exposed to the Central City explosion, she can turn any object into a bomb with just a touch of her hand.
ONE PERCENT---new tv series about a dysfunctional family fighting to keep its organic farm from going under. Hillary Swank, Ed Harris and Ed Helms are in negotiations to star.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON---Hayley Atwell confirmed Peggy Carter will appear in the sequel.
DEUS EX---movie underway based on the video game with Michael Finch (PREDATORS) rewriting the script.
