Just found out that THE ITALIAN JOB by Quincy Jones has been released. No word here on the forum so far about such a gem???!!!
Quincy is always worth mentioning and still hoping for some more releases. He´s a bit underrepresented I believe.

Ummm...either I'm missing something or that was released about 15 years ago....it's a criminally short CD (28 minutes, I think)....too many versions of "On Days Like These"....but the other stuff is enormous fun - just a shame there's not much of it!

The soundtrack was issued on CD in 2000 as MCA 112488 (UK) with same 12 tracks as the LP from 1969.

Question: Before the CD release, there was a limited edition vinyl release by Harkit Records.

Does anyone know if this was official, or just a very well put together boot?

Here's an Italian jobbie (Il Baco Da Seta) upcoming from Digitmovies whose notes claim that portions of jazzer Mario Bertolazzi's music are similar to musical styles by Quincy Jones, Mancini, Schifrin, etc.

No doubt OnyaBirri and other FSMers should be given a 'heads up' alert on this item. smile

I believe I had this vinyl album. I can't remember what the label was because it was over ten years ago when I bought it from HMV. The guy in HMV told me it was a bootleg which surprised me because I thought retail outlets weren't allowed to sell bootlegs. I had never bought a bootleg in my life so didn't know what to expect but it sounded absolutely brilliant. I wonder what I did with that vinyl album because I certainly don't have it anymore.

I remember when the Italian Job was remastered for DVD, that's when the official CD soundtrack was released for the very first time ever.
