Will there ever be a complete soundtrack recording of this movie? The initial release focused mostly on Bee Gee songs and a few general songs but lots of instrumental music as well as other songs were missing. I think it was a great score by Vince Dicola and Frank Stallone and deserves an expanded release
I consider the climactic dance sequence in a musical Hell one of the unintentionally funniest I've ever seen in film. I couldn't stop giggling at the overdone tone of it. Funnier than most comedies.
I find it easy to believe that director Stallone had never actually seen a musical after viewing that finale. Either that or he didn't get that the Faust number in Minnelli's The Band Wagon was supposed to be funny.
Despite being mind-bendingly awful, Staying Alive actually did very well at the box office and I do know many who possess affection for it. I don't see an expanded release outside the realm of possibility.
How much score did DiCola write? He is not even credited on imdb.
And did Stallone write the score with him??
Dicola was co-writer on all songs that Frank Stallone wrote like :
- Far From Over - Hope We Never Change - Waking Up - Moody Girl - I'm Never Gonna Give You Up - The Winning End - Royale Theater Show
So Dicola's involvement was extensive on the soundtrack. You can hear Dicola's typical style on many songs
Yes, but did DiCola write an instrumental score?
"Royale Theather Show" is a 3 part instrumental piece written by Dicola which has never been released on CD. Aside from that, there was more instrumental music by Gary Wright and Tommy Faragher, also never been released on CD or vinyl before. Along with this, there are the instrumental versions of the songs by Dicola. I suppose that's it but it would make a serious expanded release possible. I suppose the rights could be an issue but I hope someone would be interested to release this.
