No one's heard this yet or had anything to say about it?

What would COCOON-era James Horner sound like it he'd scored a John Carpenter pic after hearing James Newton Howard's SIGNS? And I can't stop listening to the results. They're damned good!

Surprised this has gotten zero buzz so far.

Awesome double-post without doing anything!

I love this description so much.

I like it. It's not as captivating as some of Trapanese's previous work, but there's enough highlight tracks to make this a favourite of the year for me. I love those 80s electropop references he keeps making now and then.

I think the fact the movie bombed and was critically shredded like over-cooked pork shoulder gives us a good indication why.

I have listened to this a dozen times or so...I really like it quite a bit.

RT rating of 47% is hardly terrible, Age of Extinction has a 17%. If anything the found footage style probably hurt it, and too much competition out there.

As far as the money side, that was a really cheap picture at $13 million, and in the US $25 million box office. It only needs about 10 million or so to pay the distributors and come out in the black. It is entirely likely that Earth to Echo will come out pretty profitable, especially if they can get it to play outside the US.

The found footage aspect of it made me lose interest completely. I like Chronicle, and other movies of its kind, but at this point, come on.

Yeah, I think if the director was paying (apparently) homage to ET then he should have shot it traditionally, and found footage has been overused.

Thanks, Jon. You've confimed the FSM board search is completely broken. I searched TWICE for EARTH TO ECHO before posting!

I always Google things I want to find on the board anymore, Ryan.

Probably. HotBot won't, though. Figures.

Listening now, really enjoying it. Shame it was download-only.

The first half of the film was very clearly temp-tracked with ALIENS, and the finale was also obviously temp-tracked with SIGNS, but it's still an enjoyable listen, with a great main theme.

Oblivion was my favorite score of last year and Tron: Legacy was my favorite of its year, always look forward to his work, he's about the only young composer getting studio work writing melodic material.
