Hi everyone,

For anyone interested, I have a new "quasi" film and music retrospective of the Planet of the Apes series up at my blog, Movie Music Musings. I say "quasi" because after sitting through all five original films and listening to their scores over the course of a few days, I was way too loopy to just do a series of mini-reviews. So instead I ended up writing a little one-act play about how crazy it would sound if you tried to pitch these movies to a modern-day movie studio. It's still kind of a backdoor film and music review of the original series, but it's mostly for a goof. I can't tell if you if it's funny, but I can tell you I certainly amused myself writing it (and really, this is one of the only messageboards full of people who might actually get the stupid Leonard Rosenman jokes). Here's the link:

Thanks!

Paul

When I read the thread title, I thought it would be some kind of complaint about the speed at which the soundtrack recording played.

Thanks everyone! And yeah, it now occurs to me that the title was probably more confusing then it needed to be. I just changed it to avoid anyone thinking this is some in-depth analysis of the score's decibel levels - thanks, jenkwombat, for pointing that out.

I really liked the part when you had the studio executive say now I can go to sleep with no cares, because Leonard Rosenman will score the last film. that was cute. good stuff.
