Taylor did have a pistol in the survival pack he brought with him from the spaceship.

How about that? Of all the things you'd need to pack away for your lightspeed trip out of the country that stuff is what you'd take if you were expecting to encounter some monkey business on the other end.

Ok the correct answer is;

George Taylor's rank was Colonel not Commander. And before people call me out and tell me he was never referred to by any rank I'd point out that he was - albeit posthumously - in Escape from the Planet of the Apes.

There's a well known saying that it is better to travel than to arrive!

By the way, what was the hefty price tag on the doll?

This toy looks much different from the first picture. If I'm correct, the toy in the first post is the HASBRO action figure from 1999, which is available for ~$10.00 on ebay. Is this toy different from that one? Certainly in the first picture the toy doesn't look much like Taylor.

What happened was that when checking out the figure online I stumbled onto a website of figurine enthusiasts. The picture is of a custom-made version of Taylor, which is why the resemblance to Heston is remarkably good from the young lady-modeller who made the head. It's of much higher quality than what you'd get from a mass production moulded part.

There are some really dedicated sci-fi "garage" figure modelers out there. I think the Heston's or if you prefer the "Neville's" on the website below prove that. (And certainly no shortage of heavier weaponry in his "cold plastic hands" big grin) As you scroll down on the page the facial likenesses to Heston as he looked in the early 70's just get better and better. Probably as good as it gets in figures of these scales.

The gun isn't in his hand? ("Cold dead fingers" and all)

At first I thought it looked like Dodge, but I honestly don't know.

Erm... Dodge was African American!!! Think you mean Landon.

That's a helluva speech impediment if you stammer when you type . wink

Yeah, Landon is who I meant. Reminds me of when I used to correct my parents when they'd get Luke and Han mixed up or call Mr. Spock Dr. Spock. I'm just rusty on my Apes knowledge. I am duly embarrassed. smile
