BTW, if I put out a table on my front lawn and offered bread and Twinkies for sale does that mean I've opened my own grocery store?

OY! Put the Twinkies between the slices of bread and you're good to go. Geez, you want to move these products or not?

I'll try that! wink

LRob --

Little Free Libraries - how cool is that! Never heard of them before, (though I have been in apartment buildings where people were encouraged to apply that same principle on some shelves in the lobby.)

Thanks for the informative link.

City has changed its tune: http://www.kansascity.com/news/government-politics/article687562.html

The Leawood City Council unanimously approved a temporary moratorium Monday night that exempts the little lending libraries from a city ordinance that prohibits structures in front yards. The moratorium, effective Tuesday, will last until Oct. 20.

As soon as the moratorium passed, Mayor Peggy Dunn called Spencer to the front of the room to hand him a book for his library, an action that received applause from the audience.

I think it is a shame the city won't let this guy have what he wants on his front lawn. There is a lot of misunderstanding on this board, but remember folks, a truth will always be a truth no matter how often you want to place a false image on somebody. I only stated if I HAD A CHOICE, WHAT WOULD I RATHER DO. I DIDN'T CONDEMM THE BASIC ART OF READING. If somebody rang my bell and gave me $10,000 and a plane ticket to my favorite city. Would I say never mind I rather stay home and read a book about that city the next couple of days. The thing is nearly anyone would get my drift, except those who want to be constantly annoying.

There are thousands of cases where misinformation can be attain through reading books. As with other ventures in life. Maybe you feel we have not been slanted in directions which can make the world better when reading but how can one truly speak for all people that they have not been taking on a road of lies. I think a minister once said to know what is right and wrong can be attain without reading one piece of literature, but by the first hand wisdom and knowledge. Look at the TEN COMMANDMENTS ,spoken written or exposed by other means how many words does one have to read to get the point. Gee let's see, I won't bash the guys head in next to me and steal his money, I don't think he would like that. Gee, I think my mate signing a contract with me in a mental way will be very upset and traumatize if I make love to another woman. gee- that life growing in my wife's womb, I was that way once, I don't think she or I should get a coat hanger or call a medical hit man and kill it, I think it will in years to come appreciate if we don't. G
ee, I don't think it would be nice if in the middle of the night I clear out my neighbor's apartment and steal everything, since I didn't earn his stuff he did. etc etc etc. The minister is right, within complexity there is simplicity, within simplicity there is complicity. So in a moral sense our so call highway to heaven can be achieved with wisdom and first hand knowledge. How much reading? READING IS FUN FOR MANY AND HELPFUL, no conflict there. But the meat and potatoes of where we are going and why we are here is another issue.

I'd completely understand if that "girlfriend" of yours packed her flower-covered suitcase and moved the hell out while you were in the kitchen lecturing the canned goods.

Dan,

In all seriousness -- unlike, I admit, some others here -- please read my post again. I won't even charge you five cents this time. But please read it again, and give it some thought.

Sincerely,

Preston

Dan could have really summed that all up like this:
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you
